Two-time Tony award winner Jennifer Ehle is becoming a very strange
type of superhero all her own. She recently went from curing a global
pandemic in Steven Soderbergh's Contagion to helping in the mission to assassinate Osama Bin Laden in Katherine Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, and now it seems as though she'll be taking a part in the creation of Robocop.
Deadline
reports that the actress is currently in talks to join the upcoming
remake, which is set to be helmed by Brazilian director Jose Padilha.
The site says that her character will be named Liz Kline, however, the
writer doesn't give any details about her role or personality (and she
wasn't a character in the Paul Verhoven original). Joel Kinnaman of
AMC's The Killing is attached to play Officer Alex J. Murphy
a.k.a. RoboCop and the project surrounds him with an outstanding
supporting cast that includes Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie
Cornish, Jay Baruchel, Jackie Earle Haley and Hugh Laurie (who will be
playing the villainous head of OmniCorp). The new story doesn't say when
the project will be gearing up to start production, though one can
assume that it will be soon as the movie has already been given a
release date of August 9, 2013.
Ehle most recently played a lead role alongside Patrick Wilson in the short-lived CBS drama A Gifted Man and was credited in all 16 episodes of the series' run. Zero Dark Thirty,
which also has an all-star cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Joel
Edgerton, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Frank Grillo, Harold
Perrineau, Scott Adkins and more, will be out on December 19th.

I'm waiting to see if the "Maximum Ride" and "Warriors" series get made into movies.
