Does the Cast of 'Harry Potter' Deserve Acting Oscars?

I mean I think they do and she looks hot in the pic.

They've come a long way, and it shows. Emma's acting, while doubtful before, was stunning in DH part 1.

Of course they would portray their characters really well because they've been playing them for a really long time. How hard is it to develope into a character if you've been doing it for 10 years? The effects and technical stuff looks pretty cool and it still amazes me to watch the trailers and see what they've done.

I think they deserve one of those honorary awards when the franchise is over, just because of the huge contribution they have made to fil history. One for each of the trio. =D

I hope that the cast reads this, in my opinion: YES. However, I read an interview of Will Smith which I thought is highly appropriate for the Harry Potter cast and crew. He said somewhere along the lines of ~ greatest compliment I get is not from awards, but the fact that a regular Joe will come out and spend 10-15 dollars of his hard earned money (especially in this economy) to come and see my film. For Harry Potter, that's a few million regular Joes spending billions of their money on their movies (=)).

I hope that the whole cast and crew of Harry Potter will get recognized for their beautiful work. These films are amazing, films I will watch for years to come with the future children of my life. But, I also want to point out that the amount of money these films make should also be a testament of how much these films are loved by the masses.

The OSCARS, I am sure, much like any of the other award shows, is probably driven largely by politics (Golden Globes best case in point: The Tourist...I mean really???) and most of the time, movies that do really well rarely get notice .

But, I do hope that they get the recognition they deserve, especially for the last film. They all did a fantastic job!!!!!

Honestly, they aren't that great of actors but I think they deserve at least a nomination or some sort of award because if you watch the first movies to the last you can see their acting skills grow immensely. And, that alone deserves recognition. They're still young, and I think now that Harry Potter is done and over with they can go onto other projects and their acting will continue to grow and become award worthy.

I do like harry Potter but it´s not enough for an Oscar.

While being a Potter fan (books as well as movies) I feel that the HP movies are pretty much action based with little emphasys on character development. In order to deserve an Oscar in either the leading or supporting actor/actress category, character development and moreover acting this out to its perfection should be achieved. Nevertheless I think that the "Trio's" acting achievements defenitely improve year by year. For me Emma Watson topped it with her performance in Half Blood Prince. I can see her grow into great character roles.

They're immature actors.. .though I believe they deserve Oscars for the special effects and the technical stuff.

They are not exactly great actors, it is just a nice universe the are a part of...much like the Star Trek and Star Wars series

And Twilight DOES get nominated? That's just wrong.

I saw the movie, and I honestly thought they did a great job. I was especting some recognition.

They have one of the highest money-making movie series of all time, they deserve to have an oscar.

While you are watching the movie ...do you believe? We have grown up with these actors so we think their job is fairly easy. We take them for granted. All these years... all this entertainment. Not one single nod? Pathetic.

Their acting is good. It is not however Oscar worthy.

Neither has alot of other Actor and Actresses who have won them, Oscar is just another word now-a-days, most people who win them, can't act, so they should have one, if for nothing else then putting out clean movies in all trash that's out there these days.

But saying these kids work is the same quality as that of say, the actors on The Color Purple or Godfather or The Deer Hunter is absurd. Some perspective please.

True, but have you seen the people getting Oscars in like the last ten years? I mean really, it's a joke, they're handing out Oscars to people who are in movies that won't even be remembered by the end of the year, much less ten or twenty. I mean really if Kate Winslet can get an award for a movie even my indy movie loving sister hasn't ever heard of, why can't they get one for movies that are known world wide? And if you'd go to Google and type in "People who have won Oscars in the last ten years", you would find alot more, and I got my info from Wikipedia, it's a sorry list, full of movies even from the 90's no one remembers.

The actors don't, but the movie deserves some

They do deserve it! I mean, yeah, they aren't the BEST actors in the whole universe, but, they are about 1 million times better than the Twilight one's and Twilight got nominated so, yea.

Its a good thing that your facts are wrong because If there was a world were Twilight got nominated for a single academy award I would kill myself. Thank god its not true. Anyway Harry Potter IS a million times better and it deserves nominations for almost everything including cast and Best picture. Thats just nominations I cant give it the win though since the years they came out had some better ones like Lord of the Rings.

They deserve to be acknowledged with a nomination, at least. Personally, I think that Rupert is the best of the three. A nomination (at the very least) is definitely deserved, though, because they've all managed to portray their characters incredibly over ten whole years - it's only fair; especially if Twilight is getting nominations. That really sickens me. They don't even deserve a teen choice award, let alone an Oscar.

As a huge fan of HP, I'm a bit biased here, but how they make 8 VERY successful movies without at least getting nominated? Twilight got nominated so I really don't see why such a great cast shouldn't at least take home one award.

Why does everyone think that Twilight got nominated? IT DID NOT. Any sick freak who would consider nominating it for a freaking Oscar should be neutered!

Oh, it might've been the Razzies that Twilight was nomiated for then, which would make more sense.

Watson has a remarkable presence and is able to make a huge and complex emotional range clear and subtle at the same time. This is something that is extremely rare since Audrey Hepburn. Those days actors were expected to communicate with a single look instead of allowing poor writing, contrived exposition and obvious lead ins to do their work for them.

I think they have put in the work the deserve the acknowledged.
