When I read I get so into the story that I do not even hear someone speaking to me. I become oblivious to the world around me. To get my attention a person must shake me or grab my book.

It depends on how deeply I'm sunk into the book. Sometimes I'm ok with it. Sometimes it is a real jolt. I try not to bite anyone who does it though.

Nah, it doesn't really bother me. I can usually listen and respond to people while I read as long as the conversation is simple. The more complicated a conversation gets then the less I can focus on reading because I have to think of my response. I've gotten better at just kind of skimming over sentences and getting the jist of what the sentence is saying even if I can't actually read every word so I make it all work.

Yes! Its so annoying epescially if its just something completely irrelevent or trivial. I just look up and say please stop talking I'm kinda trying to read.

I wouldn't try to read in the company of others... I'm a good listener.. unless it's someone I really dislike and am forced to be around. If I want to read, I'll do it quietly and alone in my own time instead of blowing off others.

Sometimes...but most of the time I won't hear them. I get pretty engrossed when reading and tend to tune out the background noises.

This is about one of the only times where I get irrationally angry at others. It's like "Can you NOT see that I don't give a flying f*** about you or your issues and I'm not paying attention? Now STFU!!!"

I find it irritating because it's kinda disrespectful to the book. The vibe I get when people talk over my book is that OBVIOUSLY I'm only reading because I have nothing better to do and here they are to relieve my boredom, when, really, I just love to read. Otherwise, I'm pretty able to tune them out.
