As of right now, 94 people have voted yes, and 17 have voted no.
Out of the 17 who voted no, 7 of them are working in Hollywood. The other 10 haven't seen a movie or TV show since the Eisenhower administration.
I'm european but I don't think there is much of a difference in one basic thing:
now as a mature adult, I am recalling the sexual adventures of my peers. and it is this: those guys who has the most relentless sex life with 16 - 25, later became the "elite" who have the most economic and political power. they just knew how to get away with doing what they do, and part of this is the "coolness" factor or swag. if you can deliver that, people will forgive you the worst misbehavior.
so, hollywood is just a blueprint of what we all are tolerating or even supporting for a lifetime.
sex means also dominance, like with most primate mammals. just think of berlusconi.
still I think, that it is much worse, to promote violence and superstition. those vampire flicks are full with charming negativity. the notorious moral ending - it's all fake because youth will identify with the bad guys in the vampire movie, and with the sexually most active in the highschool/cheerleader segment.
I'm about to cut my daughter off of those two networks.
The fact that it might appear to promote sexuality is because it sells! Not just to teenagers but to the more senior members of society as well; to some it is aspirational to others it invokes fond memories.
Where steps need to be taken is in the home, school, and neighbourhood; positive role models should be promoted with even more vigour. As the old saying goes... it takes a village to raise a child.
