There is a lot of money to be made by exploiting the teen sex drive.

Too bad the kids lives are ruined in the process.

I've seen more cotton in an aspirin bottle hen what a lot of the teens wear on even those children's shows on the Disney channel. Children always trend toward what they are constantly shown.

This is sort of like asking if the Pope is Catholic.

As of right now, 94 people have voted yes, and 17 have voted no.

Out of the 17 who voted no, 7 of them are working in Hollywood. The other 10 haven't seen a movie or TV show since the Eisenhower administration.

Sex sells and Hollywood in all their liberal compassion for all underdogs has bought into it like any business based undertaking. It is terribly hypocritical.

It CAN CONTRIBUTE but ultimately its the individual's choice. The "fault" lies with the individual... and depending on age, the parental units. Society needs to stop passing the buck and blamiing everyone else for an individual's bad choices in life. EVERYTHING MISTAKE WE MAKE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE CHOICES WE AS INDIVIDUALS MAKE.

People in general are too quick to blame everyone and everything else for their screw ups, and to accept all credit for their good choices.

yes but we need to understand the brute reality behind that.
I'm european but I don't think there is much of a difference in one basic thing:
now as a mature adult, I am recalling the sexual adventures of my peers. and it is this: those guys who has the most relentless sex life with 16 - 25, later became the "elite" who have the most economic and political power. they just knew how to get away with doing what they do, and part of this is the "coolness" factor or swag. if you can deliver that, people will forgive you the worst misbehavior.
so, hollywood is just a blueprint of what we all are tolerating or even supporting for a lifetime.

the other thing is cronyism. some of the brutally promiscuous guys have supporters in their community or society. sometimes rich parents.
sex means also dominance, like with most primate mammals. just think of berlusconi.

still I think, that it is much worse, to promote violence and superstition. those vampire flicks are full with charming negativity. the notorious moral ending - it's all fake because youth will identify with the bad guys in the vampire movie, and with the sexually most active in the highschool/cheerleader segment.

People here in Ameriaca want to blame other for their actions. When are we going to be civil adults, and exept responcibilities for ourselves!! It's the parents or any guardian of the child,to put TV restrictions, and to dicipline the child!! Hollywood is not a parent!!

I can't say whether by design or intense planning or anything like that, but I've seen some so-called teen movies that shocked my socks off. Makes you wonder how they ever managed to create shows like Family House or Leave it to Beaver, etc., and get them to last for so many seasons without throwing in sexual scripts all the time. Just my own opinion, mind you, but I think today's children are being robbed of their childhood and rushed into adulthood way too quickly.

I don't think the primary concern of Hollywood (and, I presume, all other branches of the media) is to encourage teen promiscuity... it is to sell cinema tickets, advertising space, copies of magazines and newspapers, etc.

The fact that it might appear to promote sexuality is because it sells! Not just to teenagers but to the more senior members of society as well; to some it is aspirational to others it invokes fond memories.

Where steps need to be taken is in the home, school, and neighbourhood; positive role models should be promoted with even more vigour. As the old saying goes... it takes a village to raise a child.

Ive said it before and ill say it again... teenagers want to have sex... no ifs ands or buts about it.... its a parents job to educate theyre child to not have sex till theyre ready... lately parents feel its the medias job to educate theyre children what to do... sex sells, ergo media uses it.. and since teens want it and tv uses it and parents let media raise theyre children... promescuity... moral of the story: let hollywood and teens and adults in the lime lite do whatever the hell they want. if you dont want your child to be like that... dont try to change other people or complain about the media maybe you could do ur job as a parent and actually raise and educate ur own child...
