Does Bristol Palin Think She's Above the Law?

"Dancing with the Stars" contestant Bristol Palin ran into a bit of trouble in her home state of Alaska on Friday when the 19-year-old was spotted at Rumrunners Old Towne Bar and Grill, where she was watching her "Dancing" partner Mark Ballas, 24, perform.

Police are investigating the circumstances to determine whether Palin's presence there that night warrants legal action.

One source told TMZ, "The place is also a restaurant ... so under 21 is allowed under Alaska law if accompanied by a person over 21, which she was." However, according to The Associated Press, she should not have been allowed inside without a "parent, spouse or legal guardian over 21."

Palin has not commented yet, but her representatives are claiming that she did not consume any alcohol. TMZ reports that she was only eating nachos.

According to the AP, an investigator even requested raw video footage of Ballas' performance for the investigation, but the bar refused to hand over the footage.

She didn't let the run-in put a damper on her performance Monday, though. She scored a satisfactory 22/30 for her Quick Step routine, keeping her in the game for another week.

    When I was underage I went into bars several times I had a coke and enjoyed myself SO?
    It was Bar and restaurant. Fools need to mind their own business and leave that girl alone.

    The Palins have no pride or class. They understand that the people who would vote for Sarah are not terribly bright or sophisticated. As long as Bristol keeps shaking her money maker and grabbing head lines. The cash will keep rolling in. By the time their supporters realize this was about a payday and not politics. The Palins will be very wealthy.

    How petty!!!!! She didn't NOT break any laws. If she did, I am quite sure she wouldn't get off as easy as any democrat or Hollywood leftist's kid would. Why are the democrats so afraid of Sarah Palin that they continually try to attack her and her family. Maybe I should rethink my idea of not voting for her for President. If she can frighten the liberals so much, she might just put the fear of God in the terrorists.

    I used to go to bars all the time before I was old enough to drink. Most of the time I drank anyway, but sometimes I just had a Coke. Where I was from it was not illegal to be in a bar if you were underage. This is a non-issue in my opinion. Just more BS from the Liberal Left media Lap dogs.

    I am certainly not an expert on this but it seems from what I can tell this girl has no intention of thinking she's above the law. She not obnoxious just yet like many celebrities. She appears to still have the small town mentality and not a party girl. So, I think she was just having something to eat and not trying to make a statement about drinking or drinking age. I will say that she seems somewhat innocent and can be taken advantage of easily and maybe put into a position like this by someone older. (Could be why that scum Levi impregnated her).

    I used to go with my parents to restaurant\bars quite frequently when I was a youngster.

    Besides that, GWB's two underage daughters were photographed DRUNK (and I mean STUMBLING drunk) at a Dallas bar, and nobody chastised them in any way. So what's the big deal with Bristol being in a bar?

    There are such things as family bars/restaurants. If there was a problem with her being in there, it would be a problem that would fall on the bar, but I bet they check IDs when people ask for alcohol. She was just there supporting her dance partner from the show. Seriously, people need to lighten the hell up.

    Several times, as a child I went to a tiny Texas town's "beer joint" run by an uncle. It never occurred to anyone that the law should be involved because I had not reached my magical majority.

    This is ridiculous! Are we really so lame that THIS merits the attention of ANYone, much less the nation?

    I never thought I'd be defending a Palin, but we gotta end these drinking age laws... we gotta end them.

    Hopefully Sarah, shill that she is, will get behind this also.

    Surely law enforcement has more heinous crimes to investigate than a 19 year old woman who may or may not have taken a drink of alcohol at some restaurant... come ON, people...

    I believe in states' rights, too. I just think the states should eliminate their drinking age laws, that's all. I wouldn't want states to do *anything* that would restrict freedom or take over the responsibilities of parents.

    I don't believe in the nanny state, is maybe how I'd put it.

    I understand what you are saying. I don't believe in a nanny state either. But I'm really tired of exceptions being made for children because of who their parents are. This has almost always been the case in this country in every state, town or village. It's not right and is fundamentally prejudicial. If it's a rule/law than it applies to all. No exceptions.

    From what the article says, it sounds like if anyone dropped the ball, it was the bar who was supposed to do more checking. If police want to investigate anything, start there.

    The place is also a restaurant. In Kansas they have restaurants that also serve alcohol. 18 and older is good here.
