Kotaku just previewed concept art for an upcoming zombie video game, "Project Zomboid," and it got us thinking. More than a year ago, western shooter "Red Dead Redemption" released "Undead Nightmare," which was essentially an expansion of the exact same game, with the exact same map... But instead of desperados, you fought zombies. And you know what? It was pretty frickin' awesome.

If things go according to plan, "Project Zomboid" will be a zombie game manifesto. The zombie gaming aethetic has been evolving since "House of the Dead" and "Resident Evil," and since "Left 4 Dead" came out in 2008 game producers have been trying to get the formula just right. "Project Zomboid" differentiates between fast zombies and slow zombies, presumes you will eventually succumb to the infection, and even incorporates issues like depression and alcoholism. Zombie games are practically an artform unto themselves.

Naahhh.. Zombies never get old! WWZ is a great take on things, and The Walking Dead series is a good adaptation of the cb series, although they stray too much from the comics for my taste...

I've always loved the idea of zombies and phantoms and ghouls. It's the most COOLEST supernatural type of stuff to get into, I don't care, what people say.

Well duh. Last marching band season (fall if you will) one of the schools in our district had a show entitled "how to survive a zombie attack". Best show I've seen that year. Whenever they marched into the field everyone would watch it. It's on YouTube if you really want to look" iron dale high school from Minnesota is the school that preformed it

On seeing my first zombie in Resident Evil,whilst playing for the first time on playstation,I dropped the controller and ran into the kitchen. I have grown accustomed to my hair standing on end and now have an appreciation of all things zzzzombie..can't wait to see 'Project Zomboid'.

I hate zombies. They are the only fake thing that have ver given me nightmares. Though, I love zombie movies cause they scare me. But if the zombie apocolypse were to ever come...I would most likely off myself. 0_0 Thats how much zombies scare me. I'm the girl that looks behind her when she's walking down the road to see if there's a zombie behind me. lol. Zombie's make movie's better and most video-games better....but they creep me out.

I'd be sleepign with the fishes. lol. I think it's the fact that zombies used to be humans and they eat people. So it's like Hannibal Lector slash terrifying monster. Just doesn't roll with me. :D

It doesn't get much better than fighting your way through an onslaught of zombies. Left4dead2 was awesome and I also really liked helping JFK defend the Pentagon from Zombies in Call of Duty Black Ops (Zombie mode), the voice overs were really good
