Yes, I check the news first thing in the morning and at least once an hour each day. I also watch a lot of news shows like Meet the Press, Countdown, Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz plus documentaries on what's going on in the world.
I do but they tend to run things into the ground. I thought I would scream if I had to hear any more about that perv at Penn State. Just lock his ass up and throw away the key!
Unfortunately, I do. Only bad news, but once in a great while you see something that's pretty nice. But I like to keep up with what's going on in the world, even if not all is true.
"The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them; inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors." —Thomas Jefferson
I try not to read and listen to the news. All they're interested in is selling copies and trashing people's lives and publishing articles distorting public perception. So, no, I do not listen or read the news and I encourage others to get their news through social networking sites and from Internet websites only. It's difficult to know whether what you are reading with the mainstream media is truthful and honest or if there is a motive behind the article or biasness (business or political motive, etc). Message to the press: More and more people are becoming aware of what you companies are like: you're just businesses with too many "press freedoms" in my opinion; it's a smokescreen to make it okay to do what the mainstream media do.
While you have excellently evaluated news stations in general, I still have to disagree with you when it comes to certain programs. I don't know about America, but Australia has some top-notch programs such as SBS news. Still, you're right, it is important to seek alternate sources and reading information on websites can give an unbiased view.
That's what I am doing riht now, watching local and national news; later I will watch MSNBC, FOX is too negative for me, to one sided, and they say things to persuade people according to how they think, which is not always good.
