Do You Watch Reruns?

Watching reruns is fun, but can also feel like a waste of time to some. As it turns out though, that is not the case, according to a study by psychologist Jaye Derrick of the University of Buffalo's Research Institute on Addictions. Derrick states that watching reruns can help us all because it replenishes our depleted self-control and ability to resist temptation.

Apparently, when a person is watching a rerun of one of their favorite shows like Seinfeld or Boy Meets World, it can give him or her positivity from the familiar fictional world they know. After all, people don't just want reruns because they are the only thing on TV. They tune in because they are fun and enjoyable to watch.

Reruns also help relieve stress, especially comedies that can potentially clear the clouded mind. Of course, if your temptation is sour cream and onion flavored chips when watching TV, it may be a little hard to suppress that temptation when your favorite show's reruns are on.

I love reruns of popular shows I used to watch while growing up in the 90s like Home Improvement, Seinfeld and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. It's amazing how the humor still holds up today.

Depends on what episode/show, but yeah, there are some classic ones.

Anyone who is a fan of SG1 can tell you 200 is definitely one of the funnier ones. (Window of Opportunity is good too.)

I don't watch reruns of sporting events although I have to on pool tournaments played months before that I haven't seen.

I did watch Married with Children with the family in England, just this morning. Its smarter than reality programs or network news!

While some new shows are innovative, most writers just rehash old plots and ideas, so it is better to watch when they were acted much better. Who can replace Betty White, except Betty White? Ashton Kushner playing Al Bundy? Not a chance in hell!

My favorite have always been I love Lucy and the Honeymooners. But then when my husband watches Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends, I would watch with him. I do not like Seinfeld since I found it too irritating. I do miss Northern Exposure, as it is not being shown regularly nowadays.

Reruns are better than most of the "rauchy" TV and Movies being made today!

A lot of writers have crossed a line of common decency, they have crossed a "RESPECT" line that should have been left up to imagination, but we all know the persona' that Hollywood has....so ................................

That's why children like to be told the same stories over again. Perhaps, it even goes for listening to the same songs over and over and over....

Catching reruns of old shows allows you to catch up on episodes you missed and be able to watch consecutive episodes on consecutive days instead of weeks.

I'm watching Northern Exposure right now as I type this. The one and only program that ever treated Native people as Native people, and laughed with us and not at us. It poked fun at everyone. SO funny. I miss it awfully.....
