Edison Pena, the lovable and indefatigable rescued&nbs... miner has started making his rounds on the entertainment circles. Pena appeared on Letterman to several standing ovations. Edison Pena delivers his heroic story with humility, and despite his not speaking English, the audience loves his charm and humor.

During Pena's 69 days of isolation trapped in the mine, he requested Elvis songs and kept himself busy running 6 miles each day in the dangerous mineshaft. Pena can now flawlessly sing Elvis songs as he did on Letterman and morning shows, and he has entered the New York City Marathon.

Many expected book deals and movies about the trapped miners, but few could have predicted the quick rise to fame of this unfortunate miner from Santiago, Chile.

Why not? I saw him on Letterman and he was adorable. He is an example of human spirit and courage. He already has run a Marathon in the dark belly of the earth, when he couldn't be assured that he would live to see the light of day. He is a symbol of what used to be, and should be revived; the persistent spirit that made our country great.

As long as he can take the same woman who has been his interpreter. They were funny on Letterman. I even missed "My Name Is Earl", to watch him, and I had such a good laugh. Sure hope he has a fun run!

As happy as I am that he and the other's were rescued and are now safe I think there are just far more important issues at hand to be worrying about. More than likely, he won't be returning to Chile. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

The Politics of Mexico, relative to American Sanctuary Cities; now, THAT gets my attention . . . Anyway, here is a question for anyone who wants to answer it . . . "If you are in Chiile and you want to visit Miami, FL . . . Do you go EAST ore WEST?"

I can see where you might not be interested in DWTS, in fact I agree with you. Why not be interested in Mr. Pena as an individual though? He looked death in the face but still managed to keep his sense of humor about him. He seemed more interesting then some of the celebrities that people look up to.
No disrespect intended just curious why you wouldn't be interested in hearing his story.
