Ok so i just bought a 5 year old paint. well hes almost 5 i think and he has no muscle on him at all . so hes a little narrow shouldered right now do you think i started working with him and putting muscle on him i could use him as a barrel horse ? hes a gelding to..

    He has a good stature , he needs some muscle and depending on how willing he is then yes

    And hell probably need to be very sound, teeth checked and hooves trimed maybe even shod

    He could have potential if you bulk him up a little and teach him how to run barrels. If he's a Quarter horse, that would also help. Not every horse can race barrels well though. But it never hurts to try. Good luck.

    i didnt know if he would be able to because his narrow shoulders .. some one said he prolly wouldnt be able to because of it .. but also he doesnt have any muscle on him

    If you think it's pointless to try, then just let him run free and be happy. Some horses just aren't made for it.

    hes going to be a trail horse for sure but im going to start working with him to build up his muscle and was just wondering if id ever be able to get him to do barrels good since hes narrow shouldered but again he has no muscle ( for now)

    idk hes at my boyfriends dads and he hasnt had his feet done yet so i just walk him

    Normally when you barrel race, it's best to have a fast horse, and to be able to turn on a dime. But get his feet shod and try him out. He's young enough.

    idk he was a rescue horse he might be almost 5 or be 5 they wasnt for sure i dont think .. i dont know what breed he is either ..

    If I had to guess, I'd say he's a Quarter horse. But it's hard to tell from the small pic.
