They definitely are fake. They freak out when they hear a noise. Someone else could have been there and made it. It it just a scam, like all of 'reality' TV.

It's not hard to spot the fakes, ghost adventures for one, but I can't say for sure about the original Taps team's show.

Ghost adventures and monster hunters are both fake (they never find ANYTHING).
Ghost Hunters, however, I believe is real. (Go TAPS!)
