Do you think that professional athletes should be representing the USA in the Olympics?

Hell no. Olympic competition used to be the pinnacle of an amateur athlete's career. Now, he/she doesn't have that opportunity in some sports (ie, hockey, basketball). Now, professional athletes get all the glory. Note: As for the argument "But other countries are fielding (the equivalent of) professional athletes", our amateur athletes would never complain.

What a crock. I knew when they started the "dream team" nonsense, they'd keep it going on and on. Must bring in bigger advertising revenue.

I'm old enough to remember when the USA really sucked at Olympic basketball. We got sick and tired of getting humiliated by the Russians, so in 1992, the greatest team in any sport ever assembled took to the court and absolutely Crushed everyone in their paths.
The thing that people fail to realize is that the 1992 Dream Team was a watershed moment for the game, making Basketball the second most popular sport worldwide (only Football aka Soccer is bigger). The reason that the level of play is so good internationally is because of this moment.

It's not supposed to be pros out there, though. Why not have another great 'watershed' moment in the Special Olympics by fielding a pro team there, as well?
