Do you think that Ellen DeGeneres should have been picked to replace Paula abdul on American Idol?

Yes+3Ellen DeGeneres is more than just a one dimentional person. Just because she does not sing for a living does not disqualify her has a judge of good music. Neither does she dance for a living but that does not mean she cannot find beauty, rhythm and style in a true performers movements. In the IDOL game there are many factions to consider. One of the biggest reasons for an Idol choice is talent... not just the base talent but moreover the PROMOTABLE AND SALEABLE talent. This, I think, is where she might be uniquely qualified... Like I said... she is not just a one dimentional person... She knows talent.

I don't even like to watch Ellen dance, she can't sing and has no viable music business experience.
Ozzy would be the best choice... because fairies wear boots... : )
By the way, you're incredibly rude.
Ultimately, the viewing audience is who picks the winner on American Idol so, what difference does it make? The Judges are there mainly to inflict their opinion more for sheer entertainment value rather than that of some music master mind which I don't think any of them are. Did you watch the first Idol? The Spice Girl and the other female judge seemed to be more concerned with how they were dressed or if they'd be appropriate working in a "retail" setting and could wait on them at their favorite boutique than if they could actually sing! So, really, on these notes, I'd say that Ellen is more than qualified.
Frankly, I don't like the way that Paula left the show. But, I also think there were a few times on the show when I actually thought Paula was stoned or drunk. Was that just my imagination? So, was it justified or was there another reason (like she wanted too much money) or what??? I don'...

Hey, if the performers can carry a tune, have a half way decent stage presence and can do these with out crumbling on the spot at an audition, they usually make it onto Am Idol and that in it's self is saying a lot. It's what they do AFTER they get that yellow piece of paper that IS what counts.
So, in the end...yes, I think Ellen DeGeneres will be a FINE addition to the show. Yes, I'll continue to watch because it is inspiring and heartbreaking to see what happens to these young people that go to those auditions and do manage to make it onto the show and finally, because I value MY opinion and those of my friends, relatives, and etc. because WE ARE the music buying public and we will have the final say in who REALLY wins these competitions or not.
As for idol, I think it'll be interesting. I think Ellen has the potential to bring a non-biased, kind of regular listener thing to the show. And I think she won't be quite as nice as Paula. I don't know. Paula was just too nice. I mean really, Paula and Simon are about as qualified as Ellen is. They might both have the experience but their methods of critique leave much to be desired. Randy is the only one who manages to be constructive. Ellen might lack the musical knowledge but she has the ability to analyze things.
Besides, it's the viewing public that decides the winner and I guarantee you no matter how little Ellen has, she has more than the average slack-jaw that watches A.I.
If it was Oprah would it be "she doesn't know much about singing she is just a straight talk-show host"
So, get over it! Paula is gone and she's not coming back. Next season, Simon will be gone on to bigger and better things and like it or not, he wasn't that great of a judge to begin with!
