I say "Yes", but only if we eat the rest of the animal. Killing just a hide is ludicrous, unless you are in a life & death situation... in which case you would probably eat the critter anyway, right?

Better then fake fur made from Petroleum products, a non-renewable resource. I don't condone over trapping, but fur is great in colder climates, and it's a form of living off the land for many.

I do believe that if you shoot the animal for food, then whatever you do with the fur is alright. I wouldn't purposely kill a bunch of animals to make a coat.

No, this is useless cruelty and killing, just for luxus. Furthermore, too many endangered species are nearly extinct.

    Stop cruelty and useless killings.

Kill them for food not for coats. The ones that are killed for there coats are never eaten. The ones that are killed for food make nice coats, boots ect. Nothing should ever be killed in vain and killed just to make a fashion statement, people that do that should be beaten.

I have no problem with the practice of farming animals for the products that we need from them, but they need to be treated humanely while they live, and as much as possible should be used after slaughter...
IMO raising them solely for fur is wrong... the meat, and organs and bones need to have a use also, or it's wasteful, which is what makes it wrong to me

Though it would be better to use the whole animal, not JUST the skin, if the skin is the only useful part, then sure. Animals are only valuable as they have a use to mankind, period.

The question leads to say NO. Because it suggests that it is terrible use the animal products, although one may say NO and wear shoes made of cow leather, or alligator.
Terrible is the way we kill or enslave the animals under different pretexts, which is for me all absurdly lie.
Who says we should not use the skin of an ox, or elephant ivory? We can, yes, but kill them is a crime. We can make clothes of wool, or vegetable fibers such as cotton, hemp, rubber tree, linen, or using the leather of dead animals (by natural causes)...

I don't really want the animal to die, but I do think that it is necessary to have a warm coat avalible to keep me warm during the winter months. Like using lambs fur. I don't think that you have to necessaryly kill them to get their fur..

They should be killed for thei meat, skin, and everything else of use. If we're going to kill them, we might as well make sure we use everything.

I don't think any animal should be killed just for its skin. I don't think the skin or parts of any endangered species should ever be used commercially, even it it had a natural death. I'd say possibly it could be donated to a science museum for display purposes only.
However, I think it's a crime to slaughter an animal for food and not use all of the parts. That animal gave it's life.

Incidentally, I am against killing animals for the sport...
