When you look at something an author writes, you often can find pieces of their personality hidden within the text. And quite frankly, between the stories surrounding the creation of Twilight, the vague description of Bella, and the way Meyer speaks about Bella and the rest of the novel, I'm inclined to believe that Bella is a true reflection of Meyer's personality. An ideal physical form with her personality attached to it as well as the perfect man of her dreams (literally).
And if my theory is correct, then Meyer is a selfish, weak, non-ambitious misogynist with very few redeeming qualities. Bella Swan is possibly the most horrendous female protagonist in history -- she is absolutely horrid. So to answer your question, no. Meyer isn't a good role model because she teaches the audience reading her work few if any redeeming lessons.
Do you think Stephanie Meyer is a good role model for the target audience of Twilight?

This poll is not about liking or disliking Stephanie Meyer. This poll is also not about whether the Twilight series is a good series or not. This poll is about Meyer's behavior and if said behavior is something one of her fans should emulate or not.
P.S. Freedom of speech does not mean you can go calling people names. I don't care if this is Meyer we are talking about.

From what I've read though, she's downright juvenile to her fans, among many other things. Also, most people really do earn names thrown at them. Meyers included. You put something out in the world, you expect it and yourself to be criticised. It's part of the business.
But I will always be grateful to the Twilight Series, because that series no matter how bad it may be was the jumpstart to my love of reading. When I first picked up the Book, I loved it...it made me want to read more. Now that I'm older and now that I have read fascinating and brilliant books I know that Twilight isn't even that good, but it still holds a special place in my heart. (no matter how cheesy that sounds it the truth)
I'll stick with just Meyer.
She's a terrible role model for one reason, and one alone: she plagiarized and got away with it. Don’t believe me? Read Night World: Daughters of Darkness.
That pretty much sums up the first three books. 'Plain, average looking girl'? Check. Vampires in the area? Check. Vampire that Very Reluctantly falls in True Love (soulmates) with plain, average looking girl? Check. Werewolf that loves plain looking girl? Check. Organization of dangerous vampires that would kill them all just to keep the secret that vampires exist a secret? Check.
The only difference is that it was the vampires that moved in, not the plain, average looking girl.
And it has a slightly more realistic ending for the two: Plain, average looking girl is uncertain if she can come to terms with being head over heels in love with a killer. Vampire who relucantly fell in love with plain, average looking girl leaves so he can try to change himself to be more worthy of Plain, Average looking girl's love, and try to make ammends for his previous killings.
Also, this plain, average looking girl is far more in control of herself, and doesn't try to off herself just because the big, bad vampire is being a douche.
Yeah,...

Yeah, the ending is different. There are some changes in character and Vampire Law (Night World vampires have retractable fangs and don't sparkle). But the basic story line is almost exactly the same. Read it and try to argue with me otherwise.
I freakin Love L.J Smith...She is flawless.
I'm not sure if that's the proper message to send about holding onto virginity. Sure, it has good intention, but it's not executed properly in my opinion.
Bella really was >_>
