Do you think bringing in Supergirl is the "mythic jolt that [Smallville] needs" for the seventh season?

Tabby June 12, 2007 18:51:56

Recently, it was announced that Smallville will be bringing on another infamous DC Character for the Seventh Season. This time, it will be fellow Kryptonian, Kara Zor-el, of Argo City.

Supergirl in recent comics continuity, has made a bit of publication in the last year due to the racy action figures which portray a lot of skin for a young teenager.

Do you think that a new Superheroine is what Smallville needs to jolt the seventh season? Why or why not?

Well, I have been reading the Supergirl Comic tht a supposedly Vandervoort supposedly used as a refence for her Character. I liked it. She Started out in World's Finest and then got her own title.

I would not say her Action Figures are Racy in the leaset Bit. Here is an image and judge for yourself.

I bought this figure for my collection. It is based off the work of the Great Michael Turner.

Laura Vandervoort in opinion has really done great job capturing the Character of Kara an adapting it to the big screen. I look forward to see what else Smallville comes up with.

Smallville has been able to consistently grasp my attention from day one and continues to do so. The Introsuction of Green Arrow in the Sixth Season as well as the reoccurring roles of Cyborg, Aquaman, Flash and Martian Manhunter are always going to be welcomed surprises. Especially with the rumor of a special appearence of the Black Canary in Season Seven. I can't wait...

Since this may be Smallville's last season, it is a perfect time to bring her in!! Any earlier, and the timing wouldn't have been right :)

You know I have no idea. This show has jumped the shark so much I honestly don't know if it can be saved.

I mean it's kinda cool, but really should they be shifting the show even further off it's main focus, Clark Kent becoming Superman? Because with past guest appearances (ie Green Arrow), the writers focus on that character too much and not on Clark or more established characters.

Although Supergirl would be nice to have, I dont believe shed be the jolt for smallville. I think she may even detract from what the show is about, the evolution of Clark into Superman. How hard is it for you to accept your destiny?

Most of Clark's family has either left him or is dead, he needs to be with someone who understands im besides Chloe, that's getting a little old after 2 seasons.

If done well and not too much of her; it could be okay; I'd rather see some "friends" for Lex though and S7 spent rebuilding the character shredding that took place the second half of S6.

No, because any mythic jolt should center around Clark Kent and not another guest star. We want to see him progress toward who he is supposed to be and not waste anymore time on characters that do not propel him forward, but rather will take much attention away from his journey.

supergirl shouldnt be in the show because the show is about clark kent comming to terms with his powers and his destiny not kara its clark who is the main person in the story having kara would cause a distraction

I will reserve judgement until I see how they bring her into the mix, I have my doubts however. I think there are too many cooks in the kitchen with this show already and too many plotlines to intertwine without bringing yet another character into the show.

Given that they have problems writing the characters they all ready have in a decent way, and the description they've given her character, I don't see how they could actually do this right.

I don't know, the past 6 years of Smallville have been great without a Superheroine. It might be nice to have another superhero in the show, since the justice league left. Someone new for Clark to fight with,Lois needs a break. lol

What the show needs as a jolt in seventh season is to concentrate on Clark's journey to Superman, Chloe's journey to become the top investigative reporter at the DP, and Lex's descent to evil. The characters need to be kept true to their characterizations. That was sadly lacking in S6.

The PTB are having enough trouble giving the current characters decent storylines to add new ones.

Oh, yeah. Let Lana's "death" stick.

Making Sense is the biggest "mythic jolt" Smallville needs; the show has been on a magical misery tour of detours since the end of season one.

TV audiences seem to need adding more fuel to the fire and pushing content to the edge. Adding Supergirl will really spice things up and probably upset a lot of loyal fans at the same time.
