Hell no! People who make false allegations should go to prison for 30 years- like the cast of characters who falsely accused and persecuted the poor guys in the Duke LaCrosse Fraternity case! The Feds are making much ado about nothing. Besides, it's a waste of our tax dollars. The Feds should be worried about enforcing immigration laws, deporting illegal aliens, and going after human traffickers and those child porn creeps!

He does need to fess up for purgery, but I don't think he deserves the maximum sentence. I am not soft on crime, but Drug users go free all of the time. Why penalize someone any worse for using steroids as opposed to cocaine? It really isn't very logical.

Two wrongs do not make a right, though. The answer is not to be more leaniant on Mr. Bonds for lying. The answer is to be tougher on criminals on all crime.

I Think Barry Bonds is innocent there are many players who are the best and eventually have a breakdown Barry Bonds is a great player and has never used steriods he has been strongall this year over 20+ HR and he is close to 3k hits so a team should offer him a contract AL team would be alot better so he could be a DH.

    1. No one can prove he did. End of story.
    2. They are trying to prove that he lied by asking one of his old hoes and a friend who is no longer. that sounds familiar.
    3. Everyone tries to compare a 1986 picture of when he played for the pirates and a recent photo.......are there any mid 30's straight men who are as slim as they were in high school?
    4. why is it so important to get him? Roger Clemens and Andy Petite are all good canidates.
    5. If any of baseballs record breakers did use, who cares! Baseball has enjoyed sell out crowds and its highest viewership in the histor of the MLB! hell steriods propbably saved baseball from another strike!

No, Barry shouldnt get any Jail time. As a matter of fact, he should be playing for an American League team next season. All of you who think he should go to jail are retarded. You all have no idea. Barry is the greatest of all time and would be no matter if he did steroids or not. FREE THE HOME RUN KING!!!!!!!!!!

none of the other steroid or hgh users that are current players are doing time or even admitting to the use of these; if they do admit to hgh, they so conveniently say it was because of an injury... laughable and full of s.h.i.t.

no telling what these athletes are using, and now that their is this hgh that is non-detectable, it will continue to be used.

clemens is sooo full of s.h.i.t. you can see his big fat bloated face and and steroid built body; hopefully he will suffer the worst of the side affects and die...

all the owners and managers knew of this crap going on but once again, it's all about winning no matter the consequences; thats the AMERICAN dream to win at any cost no matter who gets hurt.

I think Dubya Bush and DICK Cheney should do life in prison for being the biggest liars, and criminals in presedential history!

Why skew the poll and make the choices 30 years or no jail time at all? Some choice that would give him substantial prison time appropriate to his crimes against the legal system as well as his more substantial crimes against the integrity of the game should have been available.. Imprisonment for five years is appropriate but any more than ten years of incarceration is overkill. If you reconfigure the poll to allow for reasonable time, I'm sure the majority of voters will concede that this arrogant, belligerent, pompous liar does not deserve a "get-out-of-jail-free" card.

Bonds shouldn't do 30 years but he should face some punishment..
He should not be punished for using Steroids, but rather for committing
the crime of purgery. This is where he went wrong, its a serious crime
and should be treated as such.

THE OWNER'S, MANAGERS, COACHES, COMMISENER, BUSH THE PRESIDENT PRESEDENT WHEN HE WAS OWNER OF THE TEXAS RANGERS KNEW THAT NOT ONLY BARRY BONDS BUT A LOT OF OTHER [PLAYERS WERE USING STEROIDS. THEY KNEW THAT BASEBALL WAS IN A DOWN Fall AND WANTED TO BRING BACK THE FANS (REVENUE). WHEN SOSA & AND MARK SURPASSED RUTH & AND MARRIS, THEY KNEW THAT THEY WERE ON STEROIDS. IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE PAST PLAYERS. I FEEL THAT THE PLAYERS THAT USED IT SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED BUT HAVE AN ASTERIK NEXT TO THERE NAME. HOWEVER, IF ANY CURRENT PLAER USES STEROIDS NOW-THEY SHOULD BE PUNISHED. I ALSO THIINK THAT PLAYERS THAT USE SUBSTANCE ABUSE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM BASEBALL AFTER A COUPLE OF CHANCES. WHAT MESSAGE IS ALL THE ABOVE SENDING OUR OUR KIDS. I DO NOT HAVE THE LOVE THAT I ONCE HAD FOR BASEBALL DUE WHAT BASEBALL HAS BECOME. LASTLY, THE OWNERS & AND THE COMMIONER IS THE ONES THAT SHOULD DO TIME . FOR KNOWING THAT THE PLAYERS WERE USING IT AND NOT REPORTING IT.

Barry Bonds has done nothing that merits him going to jail. What he does merit, however, is credit for what he has done-simply being one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the game, with a place reserved for him in the Hall Of Fame along with the likes of Ruth, Williams, Cobb, Hornsby, Gehrig, Aaron and Mays. The man has NO PRIOR CRIMINAL RECORD and, for that, at worst, should receive probation before judgement with un-paid, alternative community service, the same as almost anyone else would receive under similar circumstances.

Has anyone read the Mitchell report and seen the HUGE list of players that supposedly did steroids and HGH? Seems to me like everyone was playing on an even field because of the numbers of players who were supposedly juiced. Notice how I keep saying "supposedly"? Now as far as Bonds lying - who cares? And who didn't lie (other than rat Canseco)? This whole topic is one person's word against another. I just can't believe someone would even be considered for 30 years in prison for this! It's absurd. Roids don't give you better hand-eye coordination, faster bat speed (in fact the bulk could slow you down), so I don't think Bond's record should be stripped either. The timing of the whole roid question is prior to it being illegal either in baseball or by law. Why not go after the drug dealers who supplied the stuff, if you have to go after anyone. No, leave Barry out of jail (fine him if you must do something for appearance sake), but he or any other player should be left alone regarding this, and let's move forward.

If he was doing steroids when there were no rules in sports that said he couldn't then he did nothing wrong there. Legally though if he did them without a RX then he broke the law and then lied about it 2 legal strikes in that case. 30 years is still far too long no matter the outcome.
