Yeah, but that is so lame.... I miss it because I was there. Staring at a 16" monitor doesn't compare to my 73" sony home theater, or the onkyo stadium surround sound that will dominate what a neighbor 2 blocks away WAS listening to. That, no computer or Youtube can do.
Close, but they cater to pop and rap overother musics. Sales of music have determined everything is equal right now, so why are we pushing this garbage?
I can appreciate that you want your music. I do not care for either genre since about 2000. They are both so similar to begin with, but now a days, artists just seem so fake and brainless. I miss smart artists. I'm a rocker too, so to want the rock today, oddly enough, you must make it yourself. I can't stand emo, I'm emotional as a person, but emo is a poor term for it, as they really only complain and focus on sad. And indie rock, has changed into what sounds like pop rock. At this rate, I might just study up and crank out a few funny rap albums, create a lable, and then after it takes off for a long while, sell all intellectual properties, and assemble a group of investors for a rock only music channel.
You must be young. Mtv did tbat to you, if you'd have been13 in 95' you would have liked Mtv from there back. It isn' t even vaguely resemblant of itself now.
I was 8 in '95... I remember watching mtv with my older sister when I was younger. But did music videos really contribute to music or make it better? Like the song goes video killed the radio star.
It was supposed to be a witty statement emphasizing how seeing your favorite artists' was superior to just hearing them. Beforehand, all you could do was tune in to a talk show late night and hope for someone you liked to be on. The advent of videos did change music and certainly it made merchandising go way up. More and more groups and singers where being signed to labels and then featured in videos. I will say I can see where it may have hurt music, as pop and rap won huge acclaim for showcasing otherwise less than classy situations, causing some sort of reverse evolution in the youth, and now people can't stop watching Jersey Shore. Those are the pop mongers. Another way videos changed music, was it was easier to see who tuned in for what video, or certain kinds of music, thereby shaping the focus of record lables, and sending recording agents into signing frenzies with some good, and some bad bands.
I really enjoyed watching music videos. They were like miniature documentaries or muscials. Now all they show is stupid reality shows and ten year old Girls Gone Wild Spring Break episodes.
Never had it (it was available on the speciality channels, but not our basic cable... the similar Canadian channel was/is Much Music)... I have a feeling I would prefer it to the crap that's on it now (I had it when I signed up for fibreop digital cable, but I removed that particular channel because it didn't play anything good).
More like was. I had a 6 foot Telstar dish as a kid, got all your music channels to. Didn't Much Music boost it's Christian music library a while back? I know Zmusic was.
I'm not sure (about the Christian music library)... I never really watched the channel... I just remember watching music videos and their Pop Up Video.
Can't even watch Real World anymore. It's been on so long, it's the same thing, only in a different city or country.
Nuff said.
