I hate it, 'cause it's a crap song, and sooo not right for her voice, and it's a rip off of another song.
I love it 'cause it's really catchy and there's a good chance it's about Paris Hilton (haha!)
I just wish Avril would go back to the stuff on her first album, the folkier sound worked with her voice better.

Actually, her first album was quite good, and she has a great voice. This particular song (and album, for that matter), doesn't do her voice justice. Some people just shouldn't sing pop.

I blame this downfall in her music on her getting married. When singers/musicians get married, oftentimes their music goes down the drain.

She SHOULD sing pop though, as she's tried to cover songs that were really good, but she did a crappy job with them...

Actually, her cover of "Knocking On Heaven's Door" was quite good, and I'm a huuuge Bob Dylan fan. That song has been covered by many different people and, quite honestly, her's is one of the better covers. I strongly believe she has a fantastic voice. She's just not using it correctly. I haven't heard her other covers, so I can't really comment on them.

Just listened to her cover of "Imagine", and I must say it's also quite good.

Not a huge fan of her now, but her early work was good, looking at it from a musician's and songwriter's point of view.

I don't like anything she does, but this song is worse. Not only does she sound like a cheerleader, but she's pretty blatantly ripping off this pop song from the 70's called "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." (I can't remember the band that did it--and no, I'm not talking about the song by The Ramones.)

The Rubinoos: that's the band. Look them up, and try to find audio samples of their song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." If you've heard "Girlfriend," you ought to hear some very strong similarities that are more than just coincidence.

She does. Her real life - from everything I've ever read, and I tend to lend more weight to it when there is consistency over time in the reporting - is very stable and down to earth. Then again - she is still recently married so I'm sure she's just enjoying that when she's not busy in the studio. Thus far - I have not seen anything to taint my image of her - let's hope that remains that way for a long time to come. I like the idea of my daughter actually having at least SOME positive role models lol.
