I love the over the top tongue in cheek Katy Perry (Califorbia Gurls, Waking up in Vegas, TGIF) But I don't care for the ultra serious Katy Perry (Firework and Teenage Dream). The serious Katy Perry just doesn't work because she isn't bringing anything new to the table.
