Oh my God, no. A good man, don't get me wrong, but one of the worst actors ever. I'm more of a James Stewart fan myself.

It's true that as a CRAFT or method actor he wasn't in the elite BUT look at a couple of his well directed by ford Movies and the acting quality there.
    The Quiet Man
    The SEARCHERS

MANY back then were stars NOT actors as you say. You can't say Wayne didn't have a few good roles though.

John Wayne was my favorite actor and a true American, unlike a lot of our so called actors who could care less about our country ,all they care about is the money they make.

I guess for me it was a toss up between Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne. I always thought that Stewart was the more "cerebral" action hero.

They were both very fine actors and I might add Americans.

Easy "YES" vote. One of my many favorites is “The Quiet Man.” Among his best films are “Rio Bravo,” “The Searchers,” and of course “True Grit.” One of my favorite Wayne quotes, “Life is tough, but it’s tougher if you’re stupid.”

As much as I love John Wayne, I am glad that he never tried to portray Hamlet or other Shakespearian characters! LOL !

Yes. John Wayne and most of his films represent the self-sacrefice and rugged individualism as well as the strong morals that made this country great.

Native Americans since he called us selfish for not wanting our land stolen.

This is his quote-- I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.

Wayne- I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility.

How about writing out black people in his movies. You almost NEVER see a black cowboy in his movies . But guess what there were black cowboys.

He said black people should be happy being second class in America.

How about him not going to fight in WW2 . My grandfather did go and when he got back he was treated like crap by Americans like Marion.

HE claimed that the Native Americans where selfish for wanting to keep their Land. You people who stole this damn land were great . but the people who did not want there land stolen were the selfish ones? THAT IS A Great.
