Do You Have Sympathy for Floyd Mayweather?

Boxing's pound-for-pound best Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. may be the toughest in the ring, but outside of it, that looks to be far from the case when he has to suffer consequences for his real-life actions. It was just a few weeks ago after his victory over Miguel Cotto, that Mayweather said in his post-fight interview that he was going to serve his jail sentence like a man and take full responsibility for his actions. That hasn't happened.

Yes, Mayweather is in jail due to attacking his girlfriend in front of his children and started his sentence on June 1, but his people are begging Las Vegas and the state of Nevada to let him out -- and put him on house arrest. Why? They claim because Mayweather is in solitary confinement that his condition is deteriorating and that by the end of this jail sentence, he could never fight again. His people have asked the judge to move Mayweather to the jail's general population, but for security concerns, that might not happen.

It's been said Mayweather won't get moved because it'll be accommodating a criminal even more than he's already been. He was actually supposed to serve his sentence earlier, but the judge allowed him to fight once more before that. A report from Yahoo! Sports also states that Mayweather's people are saying he's underfed, but in reality, he's just been rejecting jail food. This isn't supposed to be the Marriott, buddy. You commit the crime, you do the time. Shouldn't Floyd Mayweather feel lucky his celebrity status got him off lighter than expected? Should “Money” man up?

There are always two side to every story.., and looking at Floyd's situation on the surface based on the way laws are rendered one could reason that he does not deserve sympathy.
But what led to the altercation..? did she strike him...? I'm just not one of those men that feels no matter what a woman do she get's a free past.

If she can hit someone.., someone should be able to hit back.., How was she conducting herself in front of the kids just prior to the physical encounter? No one is saying anything about that. A woman is no more special than a man and shouldn't be treated any different just because she is a woman.

Now I am not advocating that women should be beat on.., but at the same time when she get in one of those "I'll slap your face moods because she don't like something he said..., well..., she just injected a new rule into the game.

I have never understood how it is that the cops can come on the scene and they insist that you keep your hands where they can see them and you should not make any sudden moves. And if you attack them with just your hands they pepper spray your ass whether you are a woman or a man. Yet if a woman hit a man and he sat her ass down for it.., he is wrong. Now the cop just peeped her ass for the first time and he peppered sprayed her . On ...

Everybody has their breaking point, and their comes a time when enough is enough. I blame these celebrities for going after women that are not equally yoked that are seeking benefits. Like I said none of us were their and do not know the hold story.., but I just do not see Floyd as the kind of man that would just come in the door and go where is my bitch..? I feel like kicking her ass, there is more to this story. Sorry I am just not feeling this one...JOMO

men who beat women ... and women or men who beat each other and babies ...in front of other babies or children ... are destroying lives and futures.,. Just another venue/name for murder. A slower and more torturous grinding endurance/existance ...

OJ beat her in front of the children. In the evidence of the previous 911 calls the chidren were almost always present in the home. Their lives shall be hell unless they can get help to learn to survive the entire grief stricken lives they had before her horrific murder .. and after. The story is the same. Terrible.

I think you have a point here. SH didn't post all the details behind what happened, which makes it hard to give an informed opinion.
While abuse should not take place, you should not just give one side a free ride for hitting someone, and that does happen all too often when it comes to domestic disturbances.

I've seen my own dad get told to vacate the premises after he slapped my mother. Problem is that they didn't take into account that she was bi polar and that she was yelling and throwing and even hitting him before that. He slapped her, not in the face, but on the arm when she came after him with a iron skillet and he was trying to knock it out of her hands.

So for being a steadfast, loving and patient husband, he got told to leave while my mother was coming back down off her manic.

So until SH wants to tell the whole story here... I'll side with your opinion and not the poll.

Wyveryx.., you are a rarity here on SD.., there are so many more blood thirsty individuals here on SD. And it does not matter what the other side is because they only support the side they think they know. And what is even more messed up than that, even if it is determined that this woman had a gun and was pointing at this man.., they would still manage to look past that fact.

I have noticed that my experience here on SH, has reveal a lot of people that feels their opinion is supreme over everyone's else. And if you do not agree with them then something must be wrong with you, as though there could not possibly be another side to that situation that would cause others to see things differently.

I use to shy away from this kind of environment because I basically do not care for controversy. But I'm not one that like being pushed around so I decided to start standing my ground in support of my opinion. Thank you for your response Wyveryx...JOMO

I get sick and tired of celebrities who break the law getting a slap on the wrist and then have the nerve to whine about how they are suffering....

Why is it celebrities get to turn themselves in? None of us would ever be allowed to set our own arrest date.

These people should be held to the same standard/punishment as the rest of us. Do you think if any of us got convicted of a crime and sent to jail, a judge would "postpone" our jail time? Hell no!!

Why should I? I really don't care if his "fighting abilities" are deteriorating. He should have thought of that before attacking his girlfriend in front of his kids.

He committed a crime, he should serve his sentence just like everyone else. He got enough special treatment by having his sentence delayed so he could fight again.

And if he refuses the jail food, let him starve just as anyone else would.

He shouldn't be let off easy. He's lucky the judge is let him fight for a bit before doing his time. If his condition is deteriorating, that's on him. Nobody said doing time was going to be easy. Which still sucks furthermore, because I was hoping they would have finally set a date for him to get his ass kicked by Pacquaio. Again, sadly, never going to happen as long as Mayweather's misbehavior keeps up.
