another trilogy I'm really liking right now is Hermione, Luna, and Ginny....now that they're all grown up. Oh, come on! Like you haven't thought the same thing yourself.
The Mamasan Trilogy (or the Momma-Son Trilogy). It is a trilogy of songs by Pearl Jam; "Alive", "Once" and "Footsteps", all of which are from the recording sessions for the album "Ten" ("Alive", "Once" are on the album, and "Footsteps" is on the "Jeremy" single.
The lyrical content and storyline is dark subject matter, but it is some of the band's finest work.
Hiroshi Ianagaki's Samurai Trilogy of the life of Miyamoto Musashi, Japan's greatest swordsman and the guy they named the Yamato's sister ship after. Part 1:
I am also a fan of the GodFather Trilogy. I think Godfather 2 is maybe the greatest sequel ever made. Having Robert De Niro play the young Don Vito was brilliant as well as a brilliant performance!
I really never go into any of the trilogy movies but I do like the Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Another one is the Thin Man movies, again oldies but goodies.
"From Here to Eternity", "The Thin Red Line", and "Whistle" by James Jones for a modern choice. My all time favorite, though it consists of 5 volumes, not 3, is from my youth - James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales: "The Deerslayer", "The Last of the Mohicans", "The Pathfinder", 'The Pioneers", and "The Prarie".
The lyrical content and storyline is dark subject matter, but it is some of the band's finest work.
(Even though the third movie isn't out yet.)
Part 2: Duel at Ichijoji Temple
Part 3: Duel at Ganryu Island:

Then there is this one...
My guess is neither of these are the ones you are referring to... :-)
