Do You Forgive Metta World Peace?

Metta World Peace aka Ron Artest aka Los Angeles Lakers defensive bad boy appeared on the Conan O'Brien show Monday night to discuss his team's playoff progress, what's going on in his life -- and yes, that vicious elbow to the head of Oklahoma City Thunder's James Harden. Artest was upbeat, joking, and seemed pretty relaxed for a guy who was recently hit with a seven-game suspension from the NBA -- the tenth suspension of his professional basketball career.

He seemed almost too relaxed and content. O'Brien asked Artest about the elbow and his response was surprising to say the least. Artest told O'Brien his reaction was similar to most Americans: the hit was dirty -- plain and simple. Harden goes towards people's elbows and just happened to get hit, according to Artest, who was caught up in the celebration of scoring points. He also said he didn't deserve a seven-game suspension for the elbow.

On top of all that, Artest said he didn't know if Harden was hurt and waited for NBA officials and trainers to check on him. Because you know, elbowing a guy Jon Jones-style in the head and knocking them to the floor writhing in clear pain in front of you isn't enough of an actual sign to see if a guy is really hurt. To cap it off, it was revealed Artest has yet to speak to Harden. After coming off like a guy who still doesn't realize he gave a player a concussion that could have been much worse, Metta World Peace may want to stay away from Harden on the court. He may even want to stay off the court entirely while he's at it.

I really can't say that he's an a$$, because I dont know him personally, however, from addressing what I see, and I know that many will tell you that you can't judge things according to what you see. However, I am a firm believer that even Stevie Wonder would be able to detect that Ron Artest is not playing with a full deck, I don't know if it's mental or what, but I think that he has issues. If he were anyone other than a "Laker," they'd have his behind under a jail. He looses it, and that's not normal. Our younger generation marches to a diferent tune than when we were growing up.

btw, concussion is a serious injury ... there can be immediate, permanent disabilities (eg. impaired hearing or vision), or physiological problems can arise years later (eg. boxers gradually accumulate substantial brain damage, even without acute concussions)

Very serious, I was just watching the sports channel, and they were talking about the players in the NFL that have committed suicide, and associating it with concussions. I really think that Ron Artest is a force to be reckon with, I think he needs help, and I think that his problem goes beyond anger management.

Two things Artest did that were low class. First after knocking Harden to the floor Artest did not even look to see what he did or to see if Harden was ok. Second he should at the very least apoligize to Harden. To have a name called Metta World Peace and then pull that sh*t he should be ashamed, that would mean that he had a heart and a sence of honor that he obviously has put in question.

He didn't hit me so what's to forgive. And if you do your research on the guy he elbowed he has a tendency to get in people's face. Not justifying it but c'mon the guy ran in the stands and beat up a fan the fans who pay his salary! Is that the guy you want to trifle with?

I was watching that game, I agree with some of what you say. Harden did not get in Artest's face it was a sucker punch/elbow and it could have done serious damage. Getting in somewone's face shows that you are angry and someone needs to respect that but, there's no need in swinging elbows unless your in the UFC or defending yourself in a fight.

Forgive him for what exactly? He didnt hit me. The hit was dirty; yes. But it seems the whole game him and Harris was going back and forth the whole game till Arttest elbow. If anyone should answer this question is Harris.
