After Paula Deen admitted that she once used a racial slur, the celebrity chef was dropped by the Food Network and lost a major endorsement deal, costing her millions. On Wednesday, she made a TV appearance to tell her side of the story, and tearfully said that the situation has left her “heartbroken.”

In a 13-minute interview on the “Today Show,” Deen, 66, repeatedly stated that she is not a racist. “I believe that every creature on this earth, every one of God’s creatures, was created equal,” she said. “That’s the way I was raised and that’s the way I live my life.”

She added: “‘If you’ve never committed a sin, please pick up that rock and pick up that boulder and hit me as hard as you can.”

Deen came under fire after it was revealed in a deposition that she once used a racial slur. The former Food Network star and her brother are involved in a lawsuit from a former restaurant manager who is alleging racial and sexual discrimination.

She tells the truth (she HAS said the "n word") and gets reamed for it.
The IRS lies to Congress and gets bonuses.
Rap stars use the "n word" and win awards and make millions.

    Yeah. Equality my ass.

Her cooking make me want to puke, the grease and pounds of butter is enough to choke a mule, didn't support her before or after the statement.

Even though she's made millions, rappers and their own kind say it to each other everyday (not that it's right, it's what doesn't make humans humans, no matter what skin color). I say maybe the man deserved it, like the guy who didn't only commit burglary in a young mother's home, but beat her for the sake of it as well!!!! Yes maybe he deserved it, just like white people deserve a racis comment when they do something wrong!!

She's pretty stuck in her ways and is pretty socially ignorant of public relations. I don't feel bad for her because she still owns a crap ton of restaurants and has enough of a continued fanbase to make money off doing internet shows.

I don't care about PD one way or the other, but I think what they probably sympathize with is honesty, not racism.

She'll write a book about all of this and get more money than she would have otherwise. Besides, she still has more money than any of us will probably ever have. She will be fine.

    I'm neutral on this one...
I thought it was a bit extreme she lost her endorsement deal and was dropped from the Food Network especially over a word.

It seems she is always getting into trouble about something. She admitted it, she said it. she was wrong for saying it. But come on, it's like no one has ever had a slip of the tongue a day in their life.

Read the transcripts, watch the video, judge for yourself. I don't think she is racist. If you read the transcripts, it looks like the attorney was really searching for use of the n-word. She admitted to using it, decades ago. Now anyone reading that would say right, she still uses it. But in the privacy of her home, not in public. And how many of us would want brutally honest detail of what we say and do in private revealed to the world?

On the other hand, she is a public figure and has been on the public stage a long time. She isn't a publicity novice. She should have known better than to divulge so much about old time southern ways. It may be true that her ancestors had a hard time after the civil war when there were no slaves to work her great grandfathers plantation, but it won't get the sympathy vote in 2013.

Its just ridiculous how these days you have to walk on egg shells for fear of saying something that may offend someone, first of all no one has the exclusive right to go through life un offended. We used to be a nation of second chances and forgiveness, the liberal media is out of control. and political correctness has run amok. She gave a genuine heart felt apology and it should have been enough. Shame on those business's for bailing on her. The country forgives her, she will be more popular than ever now.

The reason I pick no is because if she was fired because of her company being sued because of her brother, then she should have fired him. If it was just for a racial slur that happen years ago then definitely NO! But she should have been also very careful how she presents her words not to discriminate others. People in the lime light should know this.

Why such an exhaustive witch hunt??????????? He or she who is without sin cast the first stone! Ms. Dean admitted, and apologized so move on! Let's ask if Bill or Hilary Clinton will admit having used a racial slur in the past . . . . . .

I don't feel bad for any celebrity when they get into these kinds of situations. They are the ones who chose to be thrust into the spotlight and have damn near every little thing they do or say be public knowledge. So she made a couple of racial slurs and got fired for it; she is sitting on an empire that includes her kids and their success, she'll be fine without a job. I have seen people who lives depend on their crappy minimum wage jobs get fired for less, those are the people I feel bad for.

She should be allowed to sue all her employers who let her go! Is it in her contract that what she said many years ago should be used to let her go?????? Stop crying Lady and fight back! Not a great word to use, but no one died!

I have never heard of her, I did see her apology, and I believe she is sorry she chose to use the word. America is about second chances, I hate how these corporations are deciding her fate when we should be boycotting these corporations for dumping her for something she said 30 years ago.
