Do you ever get paranoid that maybe someone can see you through your webcam, even when it's switched off?

  It depends, I imagine there are questionable people everywhere with the expertise to spy on people. Maybe some are simply perverts looking to spy on people in their underwear and others could be authorities spying on possible terrorists...

  Im not paranoid, Im mad as h***. Hackers can turn on your cam and your microphone without you knowing it. They sent me a video of me and my wife in bed, luckily we were asleep at the time. The best advice is to unplug your cam and mic when not in use, especially if it's in your bedroom or somewhere that could catch you undressed. Perverts and pedophile love to do this "secret watching" for their sick and twisted purposes. If you have a built in cam, put dark tape over it or a band-aid. Better yet, don't use one!

  I watched an episode of Criminal Minds where a killer watched his victims on there cams but all cams on laptops have a light built into the circuit that lights up if the cam is active so its impossible to do this without people noticing. I'd certainly notice if my cam suddenly became active.

  do you really know that it is off. there are remote applications that can turn them on with out your knowledge. And then they become spy cams/

  When I had one. I also get paranoid that people are watching me with cameras when I'm alone, in the shower, going to the bathroom, ect.

  I have both the camera and mics taped over. Webcam software that was installed when I bought it was uninstalled within an hour of getting it home. Still, a little paranoid at times, though.

  Only because I KNOW THREE PEOPLE that can get past firewalls and into computers and turn on the web cams.... I have been emailed video of myself.
