New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck has had his fair share of injuries. While Tuck can call himself a Pro Bowl caliber NFL player and two-time Super Bowl champion, head and neck injuries almost prevented that from becoming a reality. Tuck knows injuries are a part of the game, but he doesn't appreciate it when opponents illegally grab his facemask.
Sometimes it's caught by the referees; other times it goes unnoticed. So what does one of the NFL's premiere defensive players do? He becomes an innovator. Recently, at a Giants practice, Tuck unveiled a helmet with a brand new facemask. It's different, alright. With more ridges and tighter covering of the face, it definitely looks cool.
But we wonder just how well Tuck can see through that whole thing during gameplay. He does have a visor though, so his whole face is practically covered—making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to grab his facemask. Someone's going to have to be real slick (or not so slick) to be able to get a facemask penalty called when lined up against Tuck this season.
