Start with the "It counts" lunacy. But when you run that by the fact that managers don't manage to win the game, but as if its still an exhibition putting every player on the roster in the game for some face time - Jesus Christ thats awful.
And then theres the flustering over who should be on and who shouldn't. Well, its the All Star game, not the All Stats game. People want to see stars. There should be a balance between the drawing power of established stars and their names and new comers whos numbers deserve a start.
Then with so many players ineligible and with the team rosters so big too many people are becoming All Stars. Somewhere over 80 guys get the designation this year? Really? How many no namers with decent stats are getting on the roster?
I've been to two All Star games and the spectacle is cool. And thats what it should be, an exhibition - a celebration of the sport. Its turned in to a bloated and perverse festival of silliness.
Bud Selig is the worst commissioner in the history of the sport when it comes to the on field product.
