I never smoked cigarettes. I have enjoyed an occasional cigar and I did smoke a pipe for a few years. A sinus condition ended that.

Voluntarily, using my own hand to hold my own cigarette, I do not smoke. I smoked mostly during my early college years, Salems. That was before I went to the gym with regularity. Soon afterward, I took up running and you tend to dislike smoking when you run. Of late I have been thinking that it might be nice to try electronic cigarettes. However I don't have the $7 at this time. It might be beneficial and help stay awake. I am plagued by falling sleep as soon as I sit, anytime, anywhere. When I awake from these unplanned naps, I sometimes have the taste of cigarettes in my mouth. This is very frightening. It means they are probably improving a smoker's health using one. I know people who have died as a result of these practices. The perpetrators are not just smokers. They are people who may have ties to medicine, unscrupulously, in fact criminally, destroying an innocent person's health to make money of the nicotine addict. The authorities, as always, in LaLa land. As Ms. Dole used to say when she ran for the Presidency, a police department, officially from the year of the flood, fights and up to the minute crook with the latest technology. ...And only if absolutely forced to do so.

Did for 40 years I just quit. 8 years later suddenly because of the smoking I have a gaping hole in my chest from a quadrupple bypass and now here I am a Native American I cannot go outside in the sun because of the medication I am on...I am not playing Vampire and come out only at night....which sucks.

Quit yesterday :) I feel better already!

I did not start smoking til my late 20's.....I regret the day....and if I ever got enough money for the herbal menthol non-nicotine smokes, I'd get them.

If you TRULY want to quit go get the patch. I was done after 3 weeks and have never looked back. BTW I was a 2 pack a day smoker for about 30 years and havent had one for the last 4 years and no cravings.

I'll have a cigar on occasion, not often at all though.

I gave up fifteen months ago.

Quit in 2001 after 40 years. Took me a little while to get smart. Never thought I'd be able to quit, mainly because I flat out enjoyed it so much. Turned out to be easier than i had thought. But truth be known, I enjoyed all 40 years that I smoked. Wouldn't want to ever start over again, but I'm not going to regret the years that I did smoke.
