I think they do but not like they used to ....i miss the good old guitar bands like AC/DC, Zeppelin,Sabbath, all the ones that had guitar heroes......all these new freekin emo and punk guitar players have no idea what REAL guitar playing is about.

My son plays the electric guitar all the time, so I know he cares about it. Its an important piece to the music in rock and roll.

What's the point of a song without the guitar to come in and shock you? I play guitar myself so I may just be a tiny bit obvious for that with my answer. lol

For me the Guitar is a big part of a song. I don't really listen to too much of todays music but Classic Rock is All Guitar. I play myself so I'm constantly listening to the guitar parts to see if I can learn how to play it or just learn something new.

I don't think they do anymore.
I still care, what ever happened to the bands that had solos in every song?
I truly do miss alot of the older bands.

I do....and other people do to. But the majority of people only give a shit about the looks of the band, or the singer. Take mcr or fall out boy for example. Horrible guitarists, but everyone wnats to brag about how good they are. They're not good, you're just using that as an excuse. The real reason everybody likes them is because they're so 'hawt'.

That really depends. As stated before,guitar-driven music has a place, just not every place. It has been done to death in some places(speed metal and such),here I wouldn't really miss it if it left, but that's only 'cos I think the guys overplay and it becomes masturbation.Having said that, nothing to me cooks like a South Side Chicago uptempo 'jump'Blues, followed close behind by a slow down and dirty Blues. But the guitar has to be just greasy enough to go down easy.Of course I still care-its what I do...

    i know i do.
guitar is what makes the song.
thats usually the first thing i listen for.....
i was thinking about that the other day.
I listen to this music & stuff that came out before i was born & it's just 39478289 times better than the stuff around today.
I like the stuff of my generation, but still, i'd rather listen to Ratt or Van Halen or Poison or the Cru.
gimme a good gutiar & im happy.

Guitar and bass are the breath and heartbeat of a song. Without them, it wouldn't be a song.

Not so much in pop music. But in other genres like country, reggae, or rock, it's almost essential.

Check out the metal duo Zacky vengeance and sinister gates from A7X, or the whimsical/soulfull ballads of folk/country singer songwriter Graham Weber.

He's not bad, if you compare the way he sings now and on thier first album, which was a cross between screamo and death metal. Plus of that album is one killer rock ballad.

If you say so. I've sung for a lot of bands, and I've heard a lot of singers in other bands, and for me, M. Shadows just doesn't cut it. But if other people like his voice, that's their opinion.
  • Beef <--That... 2008/01/13 02:56:49
    Beef
It's not his voice. He's overrated at best as a singer, but what comes through is energy. Today we think about some of the greatest vocalists, rock and metal for me anyway, like Hetfield, Plant, Ozzy, and they were all distinctly different yet they had one thing in common in thier earlier days. People thought they sucked. And today they are some of the most respected vocalists. Revered, even, and I still cringe when I here the Het crooning nothing else matters. Vocalist front a band, and if the band is popular enough, you don't want to mess that up. Creed ring a bell?

Don't even get me started on Scott "Douchebag" Stapp.

HahahaLOL. Iwas just using them as an example. When you take one dynamic from a popular band, usually the vocalist or the guitarist, The "magic" is lost. Sometimes they can continue carreers seperatley, but most times one or both lose the public appeal that made them famous. There are exceptions, but not many.

Of course they do. The guitar sound fits every kind of music and can be misused a lot.
Check out some old jazz and you'll understand.
