And addiction experts also believe that her struggles with substance abuse played role in her death, and although she entered rehab multiple times, she was likely unable to break the cycle of relapse and recovery that traps many addicts.

that's what it seems like, first they say bad things about them, & then when the person dies, all of a sudden all is forgotten, & they start fake crying, & saying nice things about them.

I think people forgive someone's mistakes when that person has passed. It's hard to watch a train wreck from afar. It's easier to remember their talents when they are no longer suffering, and we don't have to witness the downward spiral.

but the objective is to not dwell on the negative.

The statistic is 80% of addicts relapse. Some of us are/were lucky enough to have changed enough to stay clean. It is not easy.

It amazes me how much a person's reputation improves after they die.

Sometimes the issues that effect people that are in the lime light, are not forgotten. I think a lot of what Whitney went through will cause young people to examine themselves more thoroughly, and to recognize that drugs and some people are no friend of yours.I am hoping that her daughter has been touched by Whitney's passing. in a very positive light, as well as recognizing that in the drug world no matter how expensive the drug, it is still very costly to your longevity.

Depends on who you are. If you are family, friends, or a super-fan of the person than yes you will tend to forget/turn a blind eye to their shortcomings especially after said person has passed on. Death tends to romanticize most people especially to those who admire or love them. However the person's haters/critics tend to dwell on their mistakes more than they did even when that person was alive.

Sure... why continue to hit a woman who has passed away. We do focus on the Good when they are gone... for the most part, that is good!!

It's standard practice isn't it.....After a short period of mourning etc, etc we tend to focus on the good parts of the deceased life. There is no point in dwelling on the negatives as it only shows a modicum of disrespect OK Whitney Houston was a bit of a Prima Donna, but at the end of the day in her heyday She was a powerful and very gifted singer.

Same with members of our close families and our friends after a period of times we learn to focus and celebrate their lives in a positive way.

I think people want to remember only the good in people but when it comes to our roll models destroying their lives in drugs, then I do not focus on their good but the bad and how many children want to emulate that life style.
