I'm appalled that Baldur's Gate has so little votes. If you're a fan of rpg's you have to play the Baldur's Gate games, they're amazing.

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy was the very first video game I bought, way back in 1990 for the NES. I have been buying them ever since, including the re-releases and I managed to get my hands on some of the Japanese versions, including the one FF that was not released in the US. I admit, I'm a FF geek.

I really love the Persona series, because of the combined social, story, dungeon crawling, and battling elements.
Kingdom Hearts is amazing, too--however my favorite thing about it is the story.
It makes me sad that the Chrono series is practically unheard of, though...
The Final Fantasy series was good back in the day, but now....like XIII...no.

Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls are three of my top favorites. What I want is for Bethesda and Bioware to combine styles, it would make the best RPG ever! Sandbox + Character Development= Epicness! I've also always been on Xbox, so I've never played Final Fantasy or some of those other playstation games.

Oh man, oh man, I don't know HOW one plays Dragon Age: Origins or the Elder Scrolls games on anything other than PC (Mass Effect too probably but I haven't played it at all so I can't be sure). I'm far from being a PC elitist - I play consoles much more often - but I have experienced those games on both PC and console and they are SO much better suited to PC controls. You're no doubt used to the style but you should consider trying them on PC.

I play a lot on PC too, I just prefer RPGs on the Xbox. I don't like using the mouse and keyboard for most games other than Sims and Civilization type games though.

Its too hard for me to choose. I feel like i'm letting the other RPGs down if i don't choose them...
But Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate are all my favorites :]
Fable is okay, but ts not up to par.
