Halloween is just around the corner, and that means open season for horror movies and video games. Konami was supposed to cap the holiday for gamers with the long-awaited sequel to their surreal horror series, but "Silent Hill: Downpour" was pushed until March of next year.
Director Joe Lynch might have something to offer. A gamer and horror fan himself, Lynch decided to take advantage of the rising popularity of short-form video (thanks to the Internet) and produced a series of three short films, selecting one video game, one classic horror movie, and one contemporary horror director for each. One will be released on G4 TV's website each day from October 24 to 26.
His selections are... Well, you decide.
The first to air will be "The Hunt," a combination of "Duck Hunt" and "Jaws" directed by viral video director Sam Balcomb; next is "Kart Driver," a "Mario Kart" meets "Taxi Driver" ("with a little bit of 'Oldboy' thrown in") by "Death Valley" director Drew Daywalt; and finally, "The Birds of Anger" by "Dance of the Dead" director Gregg Bishop.
Let's take a moment to reflect on that last one. As you've probably guessed, "The Birds of Anger" will incorporate Roxio's "Angry Birds" into a classic horror film structure. Lynch says Bishop filmed it "as if Alfred Hitchcock had done the movie version of 'Angry Birds' just as if it was 'The Birds.'"

We're still not convinced on that last one, but Lynch assures the public it wasn't a haphazard pairing. He explains, "It's not like we just went, 'Let's put Excitebike with Texas Chainsaw Massacre! It wasn't matching it with index cards. It was putting a lot of thought into which games we thought were going to be the most compelling and also stuff that you wouldn't necessarily think."

cookie monster 2011/10/14 02:33:43Lame+5Couple of my favourite things, horror movies and video games, but together not so much.

I can't say if it'll be lame or scary but I think it'll be funny.
