yeah i wouldnt dine and dash as the saying goes...... i cannot think of a time when the service was so bad that i gave no tip for a rotten attitude. slow service is understandable, it happens, but rotten attitude, they should have someone else cover their shift. john steven grissom

It's different over here - they give the staff wages, tips are small and just top ups. They're usually about 5%...

I can see Jack's Pearl's point though. If you have eaten and then are waiting around forever waiting for a check, it would be tempting to get up and leave. In these cases, I will usually ask for the manager and tell him/her that I want to leave and the waitstaff is no where to be found.

Yes. One time we were completely deserted for the longest time. We got pissed. Then we joked about just leaving. Well, we did it! And I'm not really sorry over it.

Actually it was very wrong and I am sorry for it. If I lived in CA still and not on the east coast, maybe I would have gone back to explain our frustration and pay. It wasn't right for us to leave.
