As if there weren't enough channels competing on your digital cable provider already, recording artist Sean "Diddy" Combs, former NBA superstar Earvin "Magic" Johnson, and "Sin City" director Robert Rodriguez are planning to launch their own networks through deals they struck with Comcast (now owned by NBC Universal). They'll each be taking a very different approach to their deal.
Johnson's network, Aspire, will provide "enlightening, entertaining and positive" programming for African American audiences, USA Today reports -- and it will apparently have ties with GMC, the Gospel Music Channel. Sean "Diddly" Combs, on the other hand, will provide contemporary music programming on his network, Revolt, with an emphasis on live events. "Revolt will be live," Combs said in a statement, "like all great moments in television history."
And Robert Rodriguez will be launching his own network in 2014 called El Rey (The King). It will provide English-speaking programming for Latin American audiences, and will run the gambit from scripted series to animated series to... eh, reality shows. Rodriguez told USA Today he wanted to feature more Latinos on English-speaking TV. So, there you have it. Who do you think will be most successful with their cable network venture: Sean "Diddy" Combs, Magic Johnson or Robert Rodriguez?

Music channels in general usually do good either way if they're 'mainstream' enough, so Diddy's will probably do well.
As for Robert's, well. I heard Latin television shows were actually pretty good.. but other than that, I know nothing about and therefore have nothing else to say about it.
In any case.. It sounds like Diddy is making a new MTV, that actually plays music.
Since MTV itself clearly isn't anymore.
We already 10,000 channels providing crap programming. Why would I want 3 more pieces of garbage to surf past.
Of them all though.. I only see the Latin one actually having a chance.
