Star Wars is an epic science fantasy saga and fictional universe created by George Lucas during the late 1970s. The first film was Star Wars (later retitled Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope), which was released on May 25, 1977, by 20th Century Fox. The film became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, spawning two sequels titled The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Less than twenty years later, a prequel trilogy chronologically taking place before the aforementioned original trilogy, was released.

Subsequently, after the release of Star Wars, George Lucas and other writers developed the Star Wars Expanded Universe, which includes three spin-off films, five television series and an extensive collection of licensed books, comics, video games, action figures, trading cards, and other merchandise, all set within the fictional Star Wars galaxy. In 2007, AOL UK Money put the overall box office revenue generated by the entire Star Wars franchise (over the course of its history) at around US $4.3 billion, making it one of the most successful franchises of all time.

I bought some Star Wars comic books at my local comic shop and some action figures at the local Dollar Store (they're still in their sealed boxes). When I was a kid, I had an original Boba Fett action figure. He was killed in battle and I buried him in my back yard. I found out years later that the figure would have been worth a small fortune, if I still had it. Now I leave all my figures in their original boxes. Am I a geek for that?

and i watched all 3 original trilogy movies back to back that weekend to celebrate!!!
I was only 5 when it came out... and i went to see it w/ my cousins at the AVCO in Westwood, CA. PBnJ sandwiches in hand.
Life was never the same!!!

we went and took our two oldest kids. we had to bring lawn chairs as there were fewer theaters then. We thought it was the best show ever at the time. Still watch it on DVD

Yes, I'm not a fan but my son is. We went to Disney World for the weekend of June 1st because MGM had a big Star Wars thingy. I got to see Jedi Mickey!

But just because of a conversation I was having with my cousin. I was telling her about eating down town and seeing a bunch of people dressed as Trekies. There was one dressed as Darth Vador and another as Trooper (the one in white). My cousin started laughing at me and said that I had 2 different shows completely mixed up. That was a proud day for me.
