I thought they did a really good job. Stone is so good at getting talented people who look a lot like the real people. Remember "Nixon"? Though Jim Morrison was much prettier than Val Kilmer

It was so,so for me. I do love Val Kilmer and I really love the Doors. I'd rather listen to their first album over and over again then to see the movie again.

I thought it was Kilmer's best work to date. It was pretty accurate too, from what I remember.

I could not believe the verisimililtude of Kilmer to Jim-I had to blink and blink twice to get to a difference. Was that Val's voice singing? Since I knew the guy slightly and learned the first two albums fr sheet music all instruments sans drums.incl keybass, which was a specialty in our band, The Cross, (though I played guitar) and my girl at the time knew Pamela and saw the two "out in hollywood", many times incuding one hellacious public fight, I could not believe how relevant and beautiful the art concept was at bringing the times and that Legend alive. But as it went on the movie lost focus, like other movies Stone has made. When I saw Jim last, in his "large mammal" phase near the end he was afraid he had "lost his voice" and knew he had drifted from the band's initial concept-to bring theatre and drama live to the Rock stage. He felt he was ripping the band apart and that Ray was not "writing" music for him anymore(both correct?)The disappointment was large. He seemed a magnet to outlandish behavior and the movie did not really explain the caricature of himself he had become or the emigre/outlaw/expatriot feelings that led to his early demise.
