Very. Especially Fahrenheit 451..."You're going to censor a book about censorship? You're going to burn a book about burning books?" ......

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Little Women and Goosebumps were both "challenged" at one point ... not sure if anything came of it. What a shame!

Little Women being challenged blows my mind. What were they afraid of, it was spark free thinking and feminism. Thats the reason I can't support censorship (though things do get out of hand nowadays on television and magazines have the F. word in them.), its because the books that inspire people and help you grow as a person are being frowned upon. If the worlds still here in 10 years I wouldnt be totally surprised if they banned the Holy Bible.

A group was complaining that the book "diminished" young women and played up the "weaker sex" mentality .... what hogwash! (The girls were anything but weak.) I don't think the challenge got too far.

It was about a group of strong women during a time that that wasn't supported. Joe wanted to write professionally which was something that was considered an all male profession. There was nothing weak about those women. Id think it to be an inspiration for young girls especially. I told that to my mom, about little women, i told her "i guess they didn't want kids getting the idea it was ok to burn off your sisters hair"

I love reading that book at christmas time, really makes you think about family and the importance of it. (also a good value kids should read about)

I didn't know that but it's rather silly. Back when I was in Elementary School, 6th grade I believe it was, we read Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret in school.

I know that many of the classics I grew up on are now banned. Books I never thought were wrong and still don't. I never knew about Judy Blume though, thats insane. I was always reading those as a child and never saw anything that a child shouldn't read.

when i was little I read my moms old tom sawyer and huckleberry finn books and never thought a thing of it other than I I wished I could live in the woods and never wear shoes. Now Huckleberry Finns a banned book. It had alot of racial slurs but it was more so about the interracial friendship that formed on a raft during a time where interracial friendships didn't happen and that was, though wrong, how people talked back then. Its an important book. I can't stand thinking kids of today may be kept from it. Judy blume though. Thats to the point where its gotten super silly. Makes you wonder whats next, nancy drew and the hardy boys.
