The opening ceremony for the 2012 summer Olympics aired last night and was a sight to be seen! The production values and imagery may have been the best in Olympics history. Taking place at the sight of the Olympic games in London, England, the ceremony featured some of the most memorable characters and public figures in the country's history.
Viewers saw Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling read a short tale before the appearance of England's most infamous villains--including her own creation in Voldermort (100 foot tall version). Then, we a fleet of Mary Poppins, not Harry Potter, come to the rescue and fight off Voldermort and the gang of villains.
Millions also watched Rowan Atkinson reprise his role of Mr. Bean on the grandest stage imaginable, complete with the hilarious facial expressions that made fans fall in love with his character nearly two decades ago. As usual, it didn't end well for Mr. Bean, who couldn't keep up with the orchestra or the runners from Chariots of Fire.
Perhaps the most memorable entrance of all was that of Queen Elizabeth, who jumped out a helicopter piloted by the current James Bond, Daniel Craig. OK, maybe she had a stunt double, but it still looked cool! In a fun twist, we saw a brief musical on the new age of social media, complete with Facebook statuses and tweets popping up as the performers presented a young love story. Overall, an impressive show visually!
But, what about you SodaHeads: Did you enjoy the opening ceremony?

Well... for me without any doubt! "The Queen's dogs was the BEST part of the show!!!".... SO CUTE!!!.
And the scene of Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital being attacked by Voldermort before an army of Mary Poppins' saved the day was just baffling....
But visually, it looked very impressive, especially the rings being forged and the dance scenes showwing the history of British popular music.
We won't. We don't want lesser care for higher cost, but it made the hollyweird celeb producer feel good.
Not all Americans are against "Universal Healthcare." Many of us look forward to the day when ALL of us are covered & don't have to worry about going bankrupt if someone in our family becomes extremely ill.

That is the bit that confuses most people in Britain about the US system. The US puts the most money out of any country into its health system (as percentage of GDP) and has access to some of the best doctors, drugs, treatments and facilities anywhere. Yet if you don;t have insurance, or your insurance only covers a certain amount, or they reject your claim because you made a tiny not-related error on your application form, an illness or injury can financially cripple you or worse: the treatment that's readily there won't be given to you.

I can't imagine having to go through life being so stuffy and proper. Not even for all that money and posh surroundings. Gotta cut loose once in a while and be silly. She doesn't have that luxury, except for maybe behind closed doors and under the most hush, hush of circumstances, but honestly, I doubt the old broad has it in her. I think she's naturally stuffy.
Perhaps I'm ignorant on their responsibilities, but from what I know, it's a life of philanthropy for others and privilege for them.
