Did 'Toddlers & Tiaras' Mom Go Too Far With Dolly Parton Costume?

Both should be eliminated. I think there is something intrinsically wrong with these mothers, & they're not helping their daughters by focusing on physical image, & prissy & prima dona behaviors.

I think parents that do that to their kids are almost as bad as the perverts that pleasure themselves while looking at the pictures. Why would you purposefully put your daughter in a sexualized outfit when you KNOW there are people in the world that would target her purely because of how you dressed her? That is insane.

Yes, I am aware that there are perverts that would target her for no other reason than her age, but why throw gas on the fire? Why give them some perverted justification for their fantasy by adding your own layer of perversion?

Little girls love playing dress up... I used to love performing and dressing up and it seems like every little girl on that show does too, so I don't see the problem

Yes there is a huge difference from playing dress up and putting fake boobs on your 3 year old. Only pedophiles would think thats okay. No 3 year old needs boobs.

These contests are not good for anyone, & it seems that there is an escalation of bad behavior on everyone involved.

Yeah I don't support pageants but the crazy moms are going to be crazy so its better that they are putting their kids in slightly inapropriate costumes rather than abusing them

Perhaps, but where there's smoke, there's usually fire. My daughter was not pressured into being a cheerleader or being in beauty contests, mainly because I saw the behavior of the mothers as being toxic to what I believed young ladies should be taught or to emulate. I have rarely met a young girl brought up this way who did not have major emotional or mental problems as an adult, & as a nurse, I've seen many.

Of course, putting on fake breasts on this little child is sexualizing her!! Six year olds don't have breasts, so she shouldn't be prematurely made to endure a trial experience of having a pair! I think it's disgraceful parenting. I wouldn't want to see the child be given over to her convicted felon father either. It's sad when she doesn't have even one reliable, principled parent.

A Mom put her kid in a Dolly Parton costume on Toddlers and Tiaras, one she wore as a child herself, so why would she think it was wrong. Now her ex wants to take the child away from her. Well, it seems her ex is a felon and was arrested a few weeks ago for DUI. Even if the judge thinks what she did was wrong, she should JUST be told not to do it again. We can't worry about pedophiles watching, they see our children, at the beach, cheerleading, gymnastics, etc. So does this mean that parents will lose custody of their kids if a judge doesn't like their Halloween costume? This is a slippery slope.

"Toddlers & Tiaras" is on TV, aired nationwide. If the costume was her Mothers' I doubt that the Mother was on TV while wearing it, as a costume.

True, the Father is a convicted felon, but this should be about the childs' best interest. Was the Mother married to the Father at the time of his incarceration, or was this something she learned about recently. If she knew he was a felon why is that important now, unless they were divorced due to the felony??

No, my children all who are adults were not watched 24/7, but we took precautions for our children. While my children played sports either their Father and I were there, or other family members were there.

I'd be pretty concerned about a parent who trotted their toddler around the neighborhood on Halloween night in some of those costumes from that show. The poor judge has to pick between a DUI dad and a mom with the IQ of a gnat. Tough call.

Most families today seem to be dysfunctional, & then we are surprised that we have a limited number of authentic persons with integrity & morals becoming political candidates. We reap what we sow!

This is just another example of how we are commercial chattel. The birth certificate gives total ownership of our bodies to the state and can dictate whatever rules they want. The birth certificate puts us into the inventory of "human resources"; the death certificate takes us out of that inventory. This also why we have "Child Protective Services". Without the birth certificate that agency cannot take your children away from you and there is proof to that, in the case of a man that had 8 children, for which all of them were taken away. They returned with one child that did not have a birth certificate and said "This one does not belong to us."

The whole show is just damn awful. Little girls have plenty of time to wear makeup and padded swimwear when they are old enough to. There is a huge difference between dress up and showing off a little girl dressed like she's 18 to the world.
