Backstreet's back, alright! Although, technically they were never gone.
One of the most iconic boy bands of the '90s made an appearance at Sunday night's American Music Awards to try to convince pop fans that The Backstreet Boys still have it. But with Justin Bieber sweeping the competition, it's tough to say whether they struck a chord with the audience.
Viewers in their early 20s will no doubt recall the Backstreet Boys with equal parts nostalgia and horror, now that enough time has gone by for that generation to reflect on its boy band craze.
Someday, Bieber fans will relate.

New Kids on the Block, the 1984 boy band precursor, also made an appearance at the awards ceremony, bringing together three generations of starry-eyed male pop singers.
The two groups performed a combination of the New Kids' "Hangin' Tough" and Backstreet's "Everybody." Backstreet also performed "I Want It That Way" and "Larger Than Life."
Are the Backstreet Boys just trying to relive their glory days, or are they still a force to be reckoned with in the pop industry?

I haven't heard anything about them in years and I really don't care now. Isn't the boy band era over by now? Hasn't music moved on to the less enjoyable Bieber types?
I guess what goes around comes around. I would be entertained if, in this "comeback," they were able to knock Bieber right out of the music scene. Now THAT would be a comeback to remember.

I DON'T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND HOW HAPPY I AM RIGHT NOW
It didn't work last time you "boys" tried to make a comeback.
(hit the wrong button meant to say that they were over)
I love it. :>
