In a recent interview with
Bloomberg Businessweek, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger attributed his fame and success to math. He claimed, "There is a mathematical formula to why you got famous. It isn't some magical thing that just started happening. And it's going to move exponentially throughout your career as you grow, or can decline exponentially if you start to fail as an artist."
For Kroeger, part of his "mathematical formula" includes product placement, co-writing songs, licensing, merchandising and co-owning the record company that released Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." The result of this formula or strategy for the singer has been a whopping $9.7 million in earnings a year. However, Kroeger insists that he never writes songs with the sole intention of making money, he says that's "bad luck."
What do you think SodaHeads? Is Nickelback famous because the band followed a mathematical formula -- or do you think there's some other reason?

A lot of musically-talented people are also good at math. But I'd describe his math formula more as "business savvy".
Nowadays, the latter is more of an attributing factor than the former.
