Did Judges Rob Manny Pacquaio?

We don't normally cover combat sports here on SodaHead, but there are times when it warrants our attention. Case in point: the big boxing match over the weekend between arguably the best in the world, Manny Pacquiao Vs. contender Timothy Bradley. Much like rival Floyd Mayweather Jr., when "Pacman" fights, everyone watches.

And everyone watched Pacquiao dominate practically the whole fight. While there was a round or two you could give to Bradley, it wasn't like he'd beat the legend in any judges' eyes. How wrong those observers were. Pacquaio lost the fight via split decision, meaning two out of three judges lacked common sense, were blind, or are just completely incompetent.

Whatever the case is with those two judges, Pacquiao lost a fight nearly everyone says he won. People talked about fixing. Many celebrities from Justin Timberlake to 50 Cent called out the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Twitter over the judging. Wikipedia pages were vandalized. Some called it the end of boxing. Bradley first said he'd have to watch the fight to see if he won, and later changed his tune saying he thought he won. Which one is it, dude?

On a humorous note, Pacquaio went missing for awhile before the main event and it turns out, he was still in his street clothes until the end of the Heat-Celtics Game 7. He also needed a treadmill to stretch his calves. And he still ended up dominating. No investigation has been opened on the judging and fans obviously aren't happy. On the bright side, at least Manny Pacquiao's calves were loose! But let's be real: numbers don't lie...

I am disgusted with American boxing these days, that boy was robbed blind. What a true gentleman in congratulating his opponent and being so humble.I very much doubt there would be too many Americans taking the same attitude.

Look, sometimes there has to be a change. The judges, and quite frankly, much more of the public than will admit were / are ready to cheer for someone new. Manny will be fine. He had the opportunity to win and basically tied. That wasn't enough to sway a trigger happy judge who wanted boxing to move forward. I applaud the judges for having the wil to make this happen.

So you cheat and make your own rules up in order to 'move forward'!! Only Americans could sink so low! Well, for me and many others boxing fans, I will never, ever watch another match with a US venue.

Yep, his ideas of moving forward are idiotic. Manny won that fight fair and square! However, your anti American nonsense is also ridiculous! Take a good look around the world before you say something so one sided and hateful. While it is true that the judges appear to be a bit squirrely, it is also true that every country in the world has its fair share of corruption. Just take a look at Russia with their boxing, and hockey or China and their gymnastics and as a matter of fact, take a look at your own government! Personally, I am a huge fan of Manny Pacquiao and hated to see him railroaded by these so called judges.

Yeah, sorry you are right. I should not generalise. There have been many Americans objecting to the decision.

On the other side, I like Russia Today btw as they counter US MSM BS!!

There is and bad everywhere. I am British but lovd Ron Paul's message. Peace!

Since when is being 'trigger-happy' a viable excuse for throwing a fight? Yes, Indeed Manny is tough and can take it, but this 'move forward' is going in reverse. This pathetic move just set boxing in Las Vegas--all of Nevada for that matter--back about 40 years. What a stupid move. Like shooting themselves in the foot with their own gun. Huge loss of integrity for boxing in the state of Nevada....and maybe a lead-in to a rematch--we'll see...the Public may not buy it.

I'm not saying I don't like Manny or that there is no "cheating" in sports in general. Who knows what happens that we never hear about and I really don't want to know. I do think there have been much worse instances than this. What about the thousands of bad calls ref's make almost on a daily basis?

Really, though, Manny has everything. Let someone else enjoy it now. Just before the fight started, I just knew that Bradley would win. Just a "sneaky" suspicion.

    CHEAT

It ain't over yet, Baby...there was such an uproar post-fight that the score sheets of each judge for every round were seized by Officials and scrutinized. Before it was over--about 17 minutes later--Pacquiao made a statement through his manager that he was in agreement with a rematch proposal that Bradley's management put forth to him just minutes before. End of story--except that the judge in question was found to have 'an addition problem' for two rounds, and the final scores-- erasures and rewrites to the point of holes in the paper--nobody could tell what he had written, least of all he himself, and he agreed that retirement from juging boxing was in order. Management, Security and Las Vegas P.D. emptied the arena rapidly due to--well-- a lot of very angry people from both sides. Long story short: A rematch soon.

I do agree that you shouldn't leave it to the judges, but sometimes its just not going to happen. Especially when 2 elite fighters enter the ring.

Well, somebody robbed Pac. Maybe it had something to do with his political incorrectness (regarding marriage) and the fact that he stands on his religious faith. I actually hope it was because of crookedness and greed and somebody was bought off.

being a New York State golden gloves boxing contender my self 1981 thru 1984 and almost never missing a professional fight live or on tv I would consider my self pretty much an expert in the sport of boxing. I would love to know the people that voted no are they boxing fans do they even know the sport? I have seen alot of bad judging in my day this has to be by far the worst I have ever seen. Granted Manny came in the fight weighing more then any of his fights at 147lbs which I thought that was strange because his highest weight ever was 145lbs so I thought wow maybe he didnt train for this fight.
I started thinking before the fight maybe this 23 and 0 with 12 knock outs bradly will win.
But I was wrong Manny on my score card won every round except the 9th.
