Even Perez Hilton was moved by Chris Brown's emotional performance at the BET Awards on Sunday. The 21-year-old singer who assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna in early 2009 has been struggling to keep his name afloat with little success, but he may have saved his career when he broke down in tears on stage.

After an impressive "Billie Jean" dance routine in tribute to Michael Jackson, Brown began his final Jackson song for the night. However, within the first line of the song it became clear that Brown was crying. Eventually Brown gave up trying to sing, knelt to the ground, and sobbed to the end.

Perez Hilton told MTV, "The breakdown seemed — and seem being the accurate word — genuine because it looked real. When you cry deeply and intensely it's not pretty. He wasn't crying pretty."

Brown continued to cry off stage, telling his friend Ray J, "This night saved my life, and my career. Thank you for everything."

"His next step should be now really protective of what little good will he may have," said Perez, "meaning folks don't want to see him bragging, don't want to see him out partying. What people want to see him being the best Chris Brown he can be."

Whatever he had done, it didn't matter at that point. That moment was not about what he did to Rihanna. It was about honoring Michael Jackson.

After a week of the original incident with him and Rihanna, I already forgave him. This doesn't really change on my opinion about him.

    C. Brown has alot of growing up to do. Maybe right about now his conscious is hard at work on him. There is much less of a margin for blacks to make mistakes, than another race of people, everyone knows it too!!! Society needs to stop tryin' like hell to nail certain someones to the cross, (thats already been done people!)

Personally speaking I wouldn't care if he was white or black or another race I still stand firmly that No, nothing will change what he did. He does have a whole lot of growing up to do and think about. I don't think in this case it was about society harder on him because he was black. I think more people are angered because he beat a woman.

In general overall maybe if he actually had attended jail or volunteered to, yes I said volunteered too I would be more willing to forgive...to me that shows he regretted it more.

he didn't redeem himself. He proved that he is a great entertainer and he has feelings, but he has to keep it up to redeem himself. It was a great performance.

WHY HAVE PEOPLE FORGIVEN CHARLIE SHEEN BUT NOT CHRIS BROWN?????????????

WHAT ABOUT Charlie Sheen regardless to being whatever( Carlos Irwin Estvez)
HE was treated different from Chris Brown, lets walk down memory lane with Mr. Sheen. This isn't the first time mentions of dv has come from a wife or ex-wife. Even before this. In 1990, Sheen accidentally shot his then-fiancee, Kelly Preston,( Mrs. John Travolta) in the arm; The relationship ended shortly thereafter. He married actress Denise Richards, In March 2005, while she was still pregnant with their daughter Lola, Richards filed for divorce from Sheen, accusing Sheen of abusing drugs and alcohol and threatening Richards with violence. He has been arrested for drugs, has overdosed on drug and has been on parole also. Now just because he hasn't been charged doesn't mean it didn't happen. Whoppi was right about one thing, the picture that was leaked and sold for profit but, how many women has been abused by celebrities and no picture was shown.Terrence Howard's arrest for dv, Howard grabbed his wife left arm and punched her twice with a closed fist in the left side of the face." I wonder what she looked like after being hit also in the face...

Chris Brown gave tribute to his idol this is what happened to him. I'm pretty sure that this is something that he has been wanting to do since the death of Michael Jackson and he finally got a chance to do it. When you feel certain things your emotions flow. He is a true fan and he was able to do something that many of of cannot do.. Chris Brown is a talented young man who deserves a second chance just like everyone else

    GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Mr. Sheen seems like he had so many chances after screwing up. He's just more than bad news. Some of what you mention is new to me but I know he had a seedy pass and the current one with his wife. They should fire him from his show if they didn't already..good thing I never was into his tv show.

Everyone makes terrible decisions. What he did was extremely wrong, but that does not make him a terrible person.

I think "Man in the Mirror" was the perfect song for him to sing. It spoke to him. It reflected on his character and on this troubled time in his life. He deserves a second chance. If he makes the same mistake again, it's an obvious indicator he didn't learn from his mistake the first time. I think what I and others witnessed in that video is known as an epiphany.

"An epiphany (from the ancient Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia, "manifestation, striking appearance") is the sudden realization or comprehension of the (larger) essence or meaning of something."

you know it isnt right to beat somebody up especially a women. he has no respect at all and so he shouldnt get respect back. so what he cried cuz of MJ's death. and he is the only one to cry?! i mean really! he is not the only one who cried and so i think that his career is pretty much over. he screwed himself over and i dont think anything will change what he has done.

I jumped on the 'hate Chris Brown' bandwagon in the beginning but, I think he deserves another chance, we give all the other wife beaters a second chance and this was his first mistake. plus we have to remember they were young and, I'm not saying it was her fault but some of them Island Gal's are Brawlers! They're quick to fight a man and quick to pull a knife too from what I have seen growing up. Rhianna in my opinion didn't tell the entire truth of what happened that night and as we now know, she's a hothead and can't control herself when smoking weed! I think he got a rough deal because of the photos, yet Charlie Sheen had a KNIFE to his wife throat, where is the outrage over that... oh no photos or video huh?

He was just crying because he's lost a lot of popularity and he wants people to think he feels remorse for what he did to Rihanna. I think there were drugs involved when he beat her. Anyone else think that?
