While some celebrities are building houses in Haiti and selling their tweets for charity, Leonardo DiCaprio is branching out in a different direction. The "Inception" star has been meeting with Indian representatives to address the nation's dwindling tiger population.
DiCaprio met with the Coalition of Rainforest Nations in New York on Friday to discuss the issue of poaching, which has brought India's tiger population down from 3,700 to 1,350 in just eight years, according to Agence France-Presse.
A New Delhi senior environment ministry told AFP, "The actor met the [India's Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh] and has expressed his interest to play a crucial role in sensitizing the global community to the cause of the Indian tiger ... DiCaprio plans to come to India to be a part of the conservation efforts."
DiCaprio has frequently been involved in environmental concerns, such as global warming. In 2007, he told ComingSoon.net, "I'm very committed to being an environmentalist and I've devoted a lot of time to doing that and getting the message out there."
Environmental issues are important, but amid all the hardships in both the U.S. and India, we wonder if Indian tigers are worth DiCaprio's time and money.

When we try and save starving humans, a large majority (not all obviously) end up as criminals or people who outright abuse the welfare system.
Tigers it is.
I happen to love the Tigers and was fortunate to see them wild while on an Elephant Safari in Nepal.
Why do you feature these mundane questions?
Because the celebrities keep going on about Africa, some people in richer countries even forget that there are poor people in their own country. People in richer countries send all their money to poor places abroad because the celebrities are doing it, and they completely ignore the poor that's on their very own doorstep.
Although it's a good thing that he is for tiger saving (I am too btw), him and other celebrities should be raising awareness of the problems in their own countries too.
