Devo is set to release a new single called 'Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus)' on August 25th through digital distributer The Orchard. While the title may not sound politically charged, the song is about Mitt Romney's 1983 road trip in which he strapped his dog to the roof of his car and drove from Massachusetts to Ontario. Do you like it when musicians get political or does it distract from their music?

SLICINGUPEYEBALLS.COM reports:
Devo is about to dip its collective toes into this year’s presidential race as the quirky New Wave survivors later this month will release a song called “Don’t Roof Rack, Me Bro! (Remember Seamus)”

If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal. -Alice Cooper

Same here, but at a different venue. Up until the whole trickle-down economics thing failed, I had never seen so many people wearing brightly-colored trashbags instead of clothing.

Musicians and politics go together like oatmeal and trout. If you like it, good for you, but keep that crap outta my sight. Okay? Great.

No, it makes me do one of two things: Never listen to that artist again, or go to a website where I can download bootleg copies of their music.

They are expressing their freedom of speech. Just as the caterer at the Obama event that wore the shirt to express his freedoms, this band wants to express themselves. Hopefully the more we as Americans disrespect each others views and opinions, the more we realize that maybe respectfully disagreeing with someone is the better option.

who CARES how they feel! It is up to you the voter to learn each candidate.s views and vote for the one you feel the best match to your views. What makes a singer know more than others? Would you blindly follow Charlie Sheen?

Blindly following? I don't remember anyone following blindly or commenting about that, bands are political get over it, look at most of the music from the 60's, absolutely political. Plus there is more on commercials and news programs, along with all the lies and deceit from the talk shows on radio. Influence from music is minimal, Ryan likes Rage against the Machine, but they are totally against him and his views and policies. It just comes down to the music, the rhythm, the beat, the words pass a lot of people by.

Music has always been a medium to transport emotions and ideas. It's an art form. And I'd rather it was politics than the fascination with drugs and tits that is portrayed by mainstream music. I think we have enough stupid love songs.

Devo's still around? This must be their attempt to become relavent again. You know, they do that once they come to the realization that no one gives a crap about them any more. Thing is, it took Douche-O 30 years to figure it out.

I hate it when entertainers get political. It doesn't matter if they're on the left OR the right.

But if they're going to do it at all I prefer they do it like this DEVO thing....NOT at a live show. If I don't want to see it....I don't watch it. There is NOTHING worse than paying a small fortune for a ticket to a concert and then being a captive audience to some idiot spouting his ideology between every song. (Hear that Springsteen?)

Especially since most of THEM get to write off nearly 100% of the cost of their lives, while the rest of America has to pay for nearly everything.

Makeup, costumes, hairstyles, street clothes, cosmetic procedures, mortgage for the "right" address, cars, meals, bar tabs, recording costs-ALL of their stuff gets written off. Seems like they would WANT to support some conservatism. Rather than the marxist who wants to take most of theirs away.

you mean like a business?...those pesky businesses. I guess I'm not part of that America that has to pay for everything.

No, their COSMETIC procedures are not business, their MEALS are not business, their HOMES are not business, and their bar tabs are not business,. those are costs all people have to pay, but in THEIR world, they get to deduct all of it, which explains WHY they are dems.

Everyone else in America does not get to write off meals. The avon lady has to pay for her, no deductions on that.Hollywood gets a second set of rules that is highly unfair.

Well if you have a business you do...like me. I have my own business and write off part of my mortgage, when I take people out to dinner, if I rent a car, if I buy toilet paper etc. If your selling pencils or in a very well known band...a business is a business

They do look like typical Obama supporters though....they have their own little padded suits! How cute!
