Dennis Rodman Writes Children's Book: Weird or Wonderful?

If you had a child, would you want to snuggle up at night and read her a story written by ... Dennis Rodman? That's what we thought. Nevertheless, the 51-year-old retired NBA bad boy, who has three children and recently divorced the mother of his younger two kids, has written a children's book called "Dennis the Wild Bull," The New York Daily News reports.

The book will be released in September and, according to the book’s blog, it is being dedicated to Rodman’s children, with "the sole purpose of conveying good lessons to children based on Dennis’s own experiences as a world class athlete while overcoming obstacles as a child."

Darren Prince, Rodman’s agent, told Page Views: “It’s just really about the character, more about being comfortable in your own skin and that it’s okay to be different." Prince said that the book is Rodman’s "own way of reaching out to his own children after everything that’s happened." In past years, Rodman has spent time in rehab and been arrested for drunken driving and domestic violence. Do you think the book is a nice step in the right direction? Or is it just plain weird?

i don't see why people think its weird, i think he is a pretty awesome guy. trying to help kids learn and make them love who they are is not weird if you ask me, he has a lot of good moral views i think, likes animals too which is a big thumbs up in my book. i thnk he is great for writing a kids book. :)

I don't understand how anything I've said can be considered idiotic. I pointed out his charitable donations and you have assumed that they were made disengenuiously with no evidence to support that. It sounds to me like it's quite clear who, if any, is the idiot here.

I've seen many children's books that are available and there is a lot of trash out there. Rodman's book sounds fairly mild to me.

He can say he's turning his life around all he wants, I'd still never expose a child to him in any way, shape, manner or form, if I could help it. He's the antithesis of a role model, there's no reason to expose any child to anything this guy has to say.

Too many people think writing a children's book is easy than a 'regular' book.
Statistically, its harder. The number of successful kiddie book writers is actually smaller.
Kid books are a 'specialty'.
Sometimes a publisher will use the gimmick of putting a celebrity name on the cover.

at least he is trying to involve himself in something positive and productive rather then punching someone in the face like he involved in when he was younger. People should be encouraged when they try and better their standing and public image in a positive and productive manner, rather then poked with sticks and prodded with instruments to see if his actions are genuine and legit,

Now-a-days, you're lucky to find anything that doesn't have violence, sex, or drugs hinted somewhere within it. Sadly. So, if the book is appropriate, i wouldn't mind reading it.

you as a parent should be responsible for what you let your children read. i myself would be wary but not close minded for my childrens sake as i would be wary of any book a parent who spouts hate and calls people names would recommend for them to read. mmmm......man who dressed in a wedding dress 16 years ago and wants to write a childrens book for his children or man who calls people names and spouts hate in todays world. who would i prefer around my children? I guess that is my choice.

Dennis has always had a larger than life persona, had the balls to cross dress and has always come across as rather intellectual. I am sure his stories will be helpful and encouraging to kids so thumbs up to Rodman.

dennis rodman has always been over the top and a little out there. i think that wildness unleashed properly into a childrens book would bring a book told with great imagination. he knows where hes been and if he is trying to teach his children something positive because he has been there then i give him props.

people make mistakes and do things that they aren't proud of but that doesn't mean that can't go on to do positive things. I don't think he will be the one guilty of making sure no one forgets his embarrassing moments but he will have to be the one to explain to his children about them.

dennis rodman writing a childrens book is not as weird as someone who can be so hateful over the fact that someone who used to live a crazy life and do some off the wall stuff wants to write a childrens book . at least he is trying to do something positive..hint hint. for petes sake it isn't saying dennis rodman is writing a childrens book and will be putting a gun to your head to make you buy it or requiring you to wear a wedding dress while reading it. dont buy it and dont read it to your kids. your choice. oh one last thing thank you for the compliment.
