Demi Moore Hospitalized After Allegedly Using Whip-Its: Surprising or Standard?

Ashton Kutcher seems to be taking the breakup into stride, but Demi Moore isn't doing so hot. Just a few months after they announced the split, reports are coming in that Moore was hospitalized after suffering a seizure -- allegedly caused by inhaling nitrous oxide from a compressed Whip-It canister. According to TMZ, the Deputy City Attorney requested that all Whip-It references be removed from her 911 recording, "along with specific references to other drugs."

The Daily Mail reports that Moore's daughter, 23-year-old Rumer, was at her side when she "lapsed into semi-consciousness and exhibited seizure-like symptoms." Those close to Moore have been saying she's "doing much better than it's made out to be" and "an amazing, strong woman" who will pull through her issues just fine. As long as she's a little more careful with the Cool Whip. But, seriously. Do you think Demi Moore's alleged drug use is surprising -- or typical for Hollywood?

So if you're a celebrity you get mentions of drug use wiped from your record? Why am I not surprised.

Demi you don't have to have some young thug to prove your hot. Pick a regular man who will love you for you and not need to ride on your curtails of past fame. Eat, and honey, it is okay to get some wrinkles, and not have the body of a teenager anymore. Start loving you!

I am surprised that whip it was a drug of choice...... I feel sorry for her...I feel sorry for celebritys. They can not live a normal life without scrutiny. Truth is we all have issues and problems but the average joe is not interesting enough to make the tabloids.

Another Hollywood "celebrity" who has confused her "problems" with real ones that ordinary people face, then turned to drugs to try to make things better. Or at least to suppress the problems she perceives. Obviously I have little sympathy for her.

Reality is that celebrity's also live in a real world with real problems...the only difference is their lives are under a microscope for the world to see. Someone that makes a large amount of money spends a large amount of money...the debt to income ratio is very much the same.... real life problems...everyone has them no matter who you are or what your income is....

What's surprising is that the whip-it claim doesn't fit the 911 call. The woman at Demi's side who made the call told the 911 operator that Demi "smoked something ... it wasn't marijuana ... something like incense". That doesn't sound like a whip-it to me. Am I the only one who notices this? To me it sounds like she smoked salvia divinorum. "a psychoactive plant which can induce dissociative effects and is a potent producer of "visions" and other hallucinatory experiences. ... effects of smoking salvia appear almost immediately and last about eight minutes. Effects include temporary speech and coordination loss.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
The stuff is legal in most states, I got some from a local store and it was sold in a little round container as INCENSE. I smoked it after a friend had told me about it and that shamans have used it forever and it was not good for me. I have a seizure disorder and it had a very bad effect especially on my breathing. Demi was released from the hospital pretty quickly and I too recovered quickly although the doctor suggested I didn't use it any more (no kidding). But I know other people who have used it and it's no big thing for them. You're either allergic or sensitive to it or you're not. Such a stupid thing all blown out of proportion. Now she's a proclaimed drug addict. LMAO at all you drama queens.

Way to go, Demi. Just like the majority -- not all -- of your peers, you tackle life's major challenges with trips to the medicine cabinet. Or even perhaps send out the hired help to purchase something a little more exciting, right? Another fantastic role model for our youth today. I keep flashing back to the days of her photo shoots and workouts and the air of importance and supreme knowledge she would spout in her interviews. She needs to pull herself up from the pit she's dived into and take control of her life and her kids' lives and move on. I wish her no ill will. I just wish that these Hollywood types would stop and think about what they say and do.

I vote surprising not because Hollywood and drugs are a shock, but because nitrous oxide is hardly the drug of choice for most folk.

Nonetheless, her looks concern me far more. In the photo accompanying the story she appears anorexic. The drug OD would seem to confirm she's got issues far more serious than a can of whipped cream. I hope this incident was a wake-up call for her and that she gets some help. It seems as if she's got a good circle of family and friends to support her, and that should make all the difference. I just hope the media leaves her alone so she can get on with healing.

Losing someone you love is very hard and some people need crap to help them cope guess Demi chose Whip It method and had seisure. Guess she wont try again. I feel for her know how it is to loose someone.
Unlike most of these judgmental people on here I dont judge her for her dark moments some people need something to help them get mind off crap..

Everybody sooner or later, one way or another, loses loved ones. Either through death or betrayal, whatever. Stuff happens. Taking drugs? Well, there's a good reason it's all called Dope. Looking at her picture, there is a whole lot more than just a grieving ex-wife here. She needs medical attention and treatment. And she needs to keep away from the substances that are literally going to end up destroying vital organs.

As a small example, my mother, who never took an illegal drug in her life, suffered from COPD. The last three years of her life were living hell, basically. She also had atrial fibrillation, or rapid heartbeat. As she struggled with her oxygen machine and her attempts to do basic housecleaning, she often remarked how awful these illnesses were for her and how in the world could those Hollywood people voluntarily take illegal drugs that would greatly enhance their chances of getting what she had. I totally agree with her.

As a fellow human being, I will pray that Demi pulls out of all of this and get her life back on track. But I can't waste a whole lot of sympathy on anybody if they choose this lifestyle of abuse.

wow I didn't even do that when I was a kid although I heard about it. But I have never heard of a grown adult doing it. Hope Demi gets on with her life and counts her blessings. It was a relationship that was destined for failure. she is a beautiful woman. Get on with it Demi and think of your kids. The pictures I have seen of her daughter outside the hospital are heartbreaking. Poor kid.

In Demi's case it's surprising because Demi seemed to have lost her wild child party animal persona and swapped it for happy wife and mother - and she's been very low key for years - ever since Ashton. I feel for her because I think she really loves this guy, and he gets his "big break," and goes into "I'm a hot stud movie star" mode and ruins the marriage. It's very sad. Actually, the union was somewhat surprising all along to me because Demi always seemed so much more mature (as in the head not the way she looks) than Ashton. I think Ashton Kutcher is a "flash in the pan", and he's blowing all the important things in life for his "flash."
