Last year she made the rounds opening up about her eating disorder, self-harm and abuse of drugs and alcohol. Now the 20-year-old former Disney star reveals that she has an older half-sister she never knew existed until 2012.

"She's in her thirties," Lovato told "Dana & Jeffrey in the Morning." She continued, "She's my half-sister and I talked to her for the very first time in my life around when I turned 20. I asked her, 'Why haven't you ever contacted me?' and she just said, 'Well, because I never wanted you to think I wanted anything from you. So I've just kind of been waiting to see if you wanted a relationship,' and I just thought that was so incredible."

Demi chose to tell her to story to the world, because she thinks it would raise awareness on taking care of mental health. Through her story, she encourages young people to seek help for their issues and realize that they're not alone and that recovery is possible. Telling her story became a right decision for her. She's now an inspiration and saved already many lives of suicidal people, because they look up to her.

It was to do with her grandmother, I think. I think her aunts and uncles were talking about her having some sort of accident and being in hospital, and she tweeted about how her grandmother was perfectly fine and that it was all a big lie. Sorry I don't know more, and I amn't bothered checking, but it was kind of a shock that someone would just come out with that.
