It happens every election season. A candidate (usually a Republican) starts playing a hit song, and the artist tells him or her to cut it out. Latest case in point: Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, 57, wants Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan to stop using his hit song "We're Not Gonna Take It" on the campaign trail.

dee snider

"I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my song We're Not Gonna Take It as recorded by my band Twisted Sister," Snider wrote in a statement on his website. "There is almost nothing on which I agree with Paul Ryan, except perhaps the use of the P90X." Well, at least they like the same workout ...

Snider has become a whiny bitch.

But, of course, Ryan should stop if Dee doesn't stop. Don't want to irritate a bankrupt loser.

At least Dee let us all know that Paul Ryan doesn't represent his views. I wonder if he'll be able to sue, though. I doubt it.

It should be obvious to the masses what Obama is doing to America. The sooner he's gone, the better our chances for recovery.

Snider get a life and get off the drugs!! The words "We're Not Gonna Take It" is not yours as for the song you wrote (who cares that was about 30 years ago) have those words but you were not the first to use them in that order......so case closed!

then why didn't Ryan just say the words instead of using the song?? weak......musicians never want the republicans to use their songs....not many of them anyway. so the only thing you can do is to criticize Dee Snider......WOW

Some, not all, are terrified of upsetting the Leftist Hellyweird Establishment so they go along or face blacklisting of their music.

You are all of 10 years old and playing on mom's and dad's computer. That is the only explanation I can give for such a moronic and childish post. Here's a clue-this grown up does not argue with children. Shouldn't you be in school BTW?

Don't particularly like Twisted Sister musically, but it's their song they should have a say in how it gets used.

I agree that Obama continued too many of GW's policies. That is the main reason we are in a slow recovery. You might have remembered that after the Bush first recession, a mild one in 2001, employment did not recover for a long time.

Are you telling me that tMitt would label GMOs? Tell me how accountable the Bush administration was. Do you really think Mitt's administration would be accountable? Hell he won't even release his tax returns. Now do you understand that Obama is not a leftie? He is only a liberal when compared to the far right wackos in the republican party who feel that women will not get pregnant if it is legitimate rape. Shame you are so against moderates. I am also against moderates but that is because I am for a far leftie for a change. We have never had one.

But you don't seem to understand. Traditionally republicans have been responsible for economic meltdowns while democrats were responsible for wars. But since Uncle Ron republicans have largely been responsible for both.

I vote democratic as I don't like economic meltdowns. These tend to happen under republican presidents.

what about bill clinton repealing the glass-steagall act, which allowed banks to gamble with your mortgage and caused the housing bubble that crashed the economy? or obama, giving out another stimulus, digging us deeper into debt? both sides are guilty, because they're the same side.

umm who controlled congress at that time? I don't think that would have been an issue if the true winner of the 2000 election had been allowed to become president. But he wasn't and instead we had an idiot who led this nation for 8 years with a regulation be damned attitude.

but of course it was Clinton's fault. lol I wonder if the republican party will ever get back to its core values. I doubt it.

I don't but it is hard to argue with history. Republicans have generally led the country during economic meltdowns and while democrats had generally led the country during war, that seems to have changed so that today it is the republicans who do both. Not a good record.

HE decides if you may use it.

So If I Buy The record, it's my to play, so if by chance I go to Tampa, and if I decide to bring my Portable CD Player or even better a Big old Fashion Boom Box and I play "we're not gonna Take it" Loud, Then what does Mr snider has to say, I bought the Cd, it's my to own, and my choice on where I listen to it., Plain and simple, what's he going to do sue me over something I legally brought from a CD store , WHICH put Money into mr. Snider's pocket. Now this is why it's so Hypocritical of these Artists, I bought and it's my.once the Artist puts out a Record FOR SALE, then what right do they have to tell me where I can Play my CD. If Mr Snider has problems where his Music is played, then Take it off the Market. That should solve his problem, he will no longer get any Royalty's, But at least his Conscious will be heal.

No, he will still get royalties.
And that's the point, a public entity, selling something (the convention-selling the candidate) has to ask permission before they can use someone's intellectual or artistic property, and pay for the privilage.
And even if he DOES ask it's still the OWNER of the music's decision to allow or not allow the use of his art.

Failure to ask for permision before using the art.....constitutes THEFT .
Now I thought the right was "all about law and order"......was I wrong?

For an artist it is a good idea for their songs to be played. Liberals only constitute only 20% of this population so he might risk angering a lot more. These artists aren't good business people are they ? Not very intelligent. Ryan should move on and play someone else's music. Let this idiot rot !

Who was Dee Snider addressing when he first wrote the song? There is no doubt that the United States has become seriously polorized, when right and wrong has become "gray". Controversy is over shadowed by the media that simply does not want to address the more important issues that the American people as a whole are not allowed to know or understand. It has taken me many years of study to become the person I am today and I would not ever trade it to be a "Joe Six-Pack".

kinda funny how this government wants to police citizens actions and use of so called copyrighted materials, yet the same politicians more or less commit piracy and copyright infringement and expect it to be ok. How is it ok for some jackass running for political office but wrong for a normal everyday citizen.

Where are the RIAA DMCA's against Ryan?

What makes him any different then some 70 year old woman whose been found guilty of piracy and fined $40 million dollars for sharing some song.

Double Standards once again... when it comes to politicians and everyday citizens..

The Romney/Ryan campaign paid a licence fee for the music it is using. If these musicians want to pick and choose who can play their music. They need to stop selling it to them! You can not have it both ways!
